I had started to warm up to the tea party until seeing this.
« on: March 18, 2010, 02:30:51 PM »
First of all, no way I would take my baby to hear these violent outbursts.  Notice in the video, the person on the left of the screen has a baby right beside the person freaking out at the ill guy on the ground. ::)  I just couldn't do that.  And if I had, no way I wouldn't say to the guy yelling to calm down, babies and children are present.  And as far as screaming at a parkinson's patient, i couldn't do that either or stand by without saying something that most likely would end in more than words being exchanged.  I really don't get it.  There are probably many people who are healthy and able that they could have voiced their opposisiton to if they wanted to get loud and mocking with it.  I would have ingored this guy and moved on.  What is to gain from attacking him?  nothing.  I can't see the good people from Wyoming doing something like this republican or otherwise.  This isn't the kind of shit I was raised with.

How do you know that guy had parkinsons in the first place?

Aldo - he probably was covered by medicare due to his age or medicaid if he needed a nursing home.

I have no idea what that means mons but I'm pretty sure I don't want you siding with me.  I can imagine at this point, nobody here wants you siding with them ;D

I didn't state these things to attack the right out of some leftist loyalty or whatever.

Tonight the event organizers condemned the actions of the people who attacked this man.

So anyone who defends it is now at opposition to the tea party members as well.  The guy has parkinsons and supports the bill.  His voice matters just as much as the asshole screaming at him.  One vote each.

The man with parkinsons should have maced that prick the moment it went from holding up signs to violating his personal space.  It's one thing to have differing opinions.  Another entirely to get 2 inches from his face.

not relevant.  If i were in line the last thing I would do is attack him on the basis that he might be lying.  I see nothing to gain in doing it.  There were no doubt plenty of others who were able to hear protests.  I couldn't stand in line with those kind of people.  I could not take my baby to something like that either.

The people I was raised around would have voiced their opinions to the man assuming he was indeed sick.  They would have said they were sorry that he was sick but, and calmly told him how they felt and why they opposed him.  I hope you understand where I'm coming from 3333.

All I am saying is that this guy probably will be better off w/o obamacare since the bill cuts out 500 billion from medicare alone.

So like I said, he probably has demnetia too.

Hugo - I am jaded, hardened, and used to frauds like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, et al who make shit up and try to stir emotions etc.

What i would have said to the man was "sir, arnt you covered by Medicare or Medicade now?  This bill cuts $500 Billion from Medicare and your treatments will be rationed according to community ratings and comparitive effecrtiveness panels.  Is that what you want?"

You may be right.  But that's a different thread, about the validity of this bill.  The people screaming at him and shoving hands in his face weren't debating the merits of the bill, they were screaming and accusing him of being a beggar, commie, etc.

I swear that 'communist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' claim is pathetic.  You might as well be screaming an anti-semetic or racial slur.  People who scream that should read about class SLAUGHTERING that went on during actual communist reigns.  Unless the crippled man on the ground is holding up a sign saying "murder 20 million americans", he's not a communist.

Obama is a communist and there is no doubt about that at all.

Regardless, if I were there I would sit down with him and try to explain how ObamaCare will ration his care and cut 500 Billion from Medicare.

also, I would explain the community ratings boards and comparitive effectiveness panels that will likely send this man to an early grave and try to educate him.

moron, people in their 20. 30. 40, 50, who go to work are not covered by medicade.  This old man probably was and stands to the most to lose under MAOCare.  I have listed the reasons many times.  Remember this gem?

ObamaCare to old man - "Take a pill and die bro!"

Maybe he does have other problems.  Also, that's not all you were saying above.  You sought to excuse it via he might be faking.  That's the same thing Rush Limbaugh did to Michael J. Fox.  That didn't work out real well for him.  These guys went there to protest against Obamacare.  What they did was to give far more voice to the opposition by the way they acted.  Not cool.  If they would have addressed him calmly and said, hey, I'm sorry you're sick, but this is the way we feel and this is why we feel that way; there would have never been a video to go viral making people mad at the tea party.

Tact!!!....  was absent here.  I can see dropping tact with people you know and talk to regularly but not in public with people you don't know.  I can't support the actions of these guys.

haha sure sure 333.  I saw many a gray headed medicare folk in that crowd.  Laughable really.  The fact they are even the 'tea party' is laughable.  The tea party was organized by smugglers like John Hancock who decided being taxed sucks (even though the fact of the matter is taxes were rarely if ever taken or enforced by the British).

More lies fed to you and the other 'baggers.  As if they are noble in spirit.  I despise those who would mock any one with a disease.  For a Christian country America is more like Sodom than anything.

Good points.

I agree with 95% of the tea party ideals.  however, by allowing racist speakers and assholes in the crowd like this means their party gets labeled (by BOTH dems and repubs) as ignorant hillbillies).

The Tea party has a responsibility to KICK OUT people with racist signs.  You couldn't carry a sign with the N-word at the DNC or RNC conventions.  They pre-read and approve speeches... you wouldn't see a speaker calling for Jim Crow laws at an RNC event, ya know?

Tea party, get your shit together.  Throw out punks like this.  Use your anger WISELY.
