Obama is a communist and there is no doubt about that at all.

Regardless, if I were there I would sit down with him and try to explain how ObamaCare will ration his care and cut 500 Billion from Medicare.

also, I would explain the community ratings boards and comparitive effectiveness panels that will likely send this man to an early grave and try to educate him.

333 are you or are you not against medicare and medicaid?

So you're telling me you would not have jumped in his face yelling at him and started tossing 1$bills at him?  That's good, so the type of behaviour I would expect from decent people is the type of behaviour you would give.  Kudos to you 3333.  Good call.  I could not stand in line with those types.  If you believe what you just said, I would stand in line with you.

Hell no, that is not how to conduct yourself in person throwing money at people.  Thats ridiculous.

So why would you use the cuts to medicare in the current bill as fuel to kill it?  Wouldn't it stand to reason that that part of the bill is something you agree with?

exactly, these tea-baggers are savages.

333367, kazan, skip were surely at that rally harassing the poor man.

What they did was inexcusable, but I wouldn't lump everyone across the country in the same bag with the handful of people on that clip.

No, they are stealing money from medicare to pay for young peoples' subsidies.  KC, I hav researched this bill extensively and it is a complete disaster.

I have no idea what that means mons but I'm pretty sure I don't want you siding with me.  I can imagine at this point, nobody here wants you siding with them ;D

I didn't state these things to attack the right out of some leftist loyalty or whatever.

Not siding w/ you Hugo.  Just wondering how Jesus would respond to a sick man on the street.

"What they did was inexcusable, but I wouldn't lump everyone across the country in the same bag with the handful of people on that clip.  "

Agreed.  99% of the tea party members are probably calm, rational people just tired of big spending and nonstop wars from both parties.

This is why it is their duty to kick these freaks out of their party.  The headline from this rally should be their MESSAGE, not their abuse of some sick man on the ground.  If the other members had escorted this a-hole from the rally, it would have been a terrific news boost for this movement.  Instead, you just hear 'commie!' and other slurs screamed for cheering onlookers.  makes the very good movement, look bad :(

good, I support you on this.

The tea party has legitimate bitches that deserve to be heard.  I hope it's not filled with these kind of asses or that some initiative is made by tea party followers to stand against this kind of behaviour so that those issues can be heard unclouded.

We all know people act stupid when herded into crowds and do stuff they never would in a small group, etc.  This was a perfect example of that.

So wait...the bill has yet to be released in it's entirety and you know everything about it?

Assuming medicare will be cut how can you be against those cuts?  You are against medicare completely, you just said you would eliminate it, but now somehow when it's advocates are against the health care reform you want to use it as a way to point out what exactly?  That you are so against health care reform you will side with people whose benefits you would love nothing more than to cut?   How can you be for the destruction of medicare and also against taking money from it? Please explain that.

I'm not against the cuts.  We cant afford more spending, and certainly not this mess.  They are cutting the money from one area to fund a new entitlement somwhere else.  This is the Senate Bill essentially and it is horrible.

This is from BI today.

Here's The Truth About That CBO Report (Hint: We're Still Headed For Fiscal Catastrophe)

As fate would have it, on the day that the CBO report is released, I am in standby hell, and running low on laptop juice.  So my thoughts on the CBO score, and the revised reconciliation bill, are necessarily somewhat preliminary.  But here is what I've noticed so far:

1)  Thanks to reconciliation instructions, they needed to improve the budget impact by at least $1 billion in the sidecar.  They improved it by exactly $1 billion.  Which goes back to what I've now said several times: the CBO process has now been so thoroughly gamed that it's useless.

2)  The proposed changes increase spending dramatically, most heavily concentrated in the out-years.  The gross cost of the bill has risen from $875 billion to $940 billion over ten years--but almost $40 billion of that comes in 2019.  The net cost has increased even more dramatically, from $624 billion to $794 billion.  That's because the excise tax has been so badly weakened.  This is of dual concern: it's a financing risk, but it also means that the one provision which had a genuine shot at "bending the cost curve" in the broader health care market has at this point, basically been gutted.  Moreover, it's hard not to believe that the reason it has been moved to 2018 is that no one really thinks it's ever going to take effect. It's one thing to have a period of adjustment.  But a tax that takes effect in eight years is a tax so unpopular that it has little realistic chance of being allowed to stand.

3)  As I expected, the size of the magic asterisk--the modern equivalent of David Stockman's infamous "savings to be named later" in the Reagan budgets--has had to be beefed up to offset the new spending.

4)  Medicare Advantage is being effectively outlawed--in some areas, the reimbursements will actually be below those of the fee-for-service programs.

 5)  A disturbingly high percentage of the revenues still come from insurance premiums for other programs.  About $53 billion of the net deficit reduction is from Social Security taxes collected on the wages people will now be getting in lieu of health care benefits.  But since those contributions raise the amount Social Security will eventually have to pay out, the Republicans convincingly argue that this is not true "deficit reduction"; it's just deficit shifting.  Ditto the premiums for the new long-term care insurance.

6)  Ultimately, this rests on the question: are we really going to cut Medicare?  If we're not, this gargantuan new entitlement is going to end up costing us about $200 billion a year next decade, which even in government terms is an awful lot of money.  There are offsetting taxes, but they're either trivial or likely to be unpopular--look forward to a 4% rent increase when your landlord has to stump over the same amount for the new tax on rents.  Then look forward to repeal of same.

I think this is a fiscal disaster waiting to happen.  But no one on the other side cares, so I'm not sure how much point there is in saying that any more.

Yea Jesus would not respond like that.

We all know that Jesus would think of America as Sodom reincarnated.  Not because of the atheists but because of the so called Christians.  So many of them don't follow any of the tenants whilst judging every single person they see.  Sad really, i'm sure Jesus would be quite upset at how skewed his followers have become, he may even disown them.  In fact i imagine he would.  That is if they didn't disown him first, him being Jewish and all.

Jesus preaching tolerance and judge not lest ye be judged.  I also remember him healing the sick and not turning them away because it was a 'pre existing condition'.  America/Sodom would make him sick.   :-X

Tact!!!....  was absent here.  I can see dropping tact with people you know and talk to regularly but not in public with people you don't know.  I can't support the actions of these guys.

Those are good points.  The message often gets lost in the delivery.  So far, what's your overall opinion of the Tea-Bag party (if you can call it that, yet).  I haven't been too thrilled with them or some of the tactics, but they have some good ideas.

that would be silly, lumping everyone across the country to these guys.  I see what I see and not more than what I see.  I saw a clip with inexcusable behaviour and I saw many tea party followers all around that didn't say anything about it and in fact didn't even seem to mind.  One holding a baby :-[

If you look closely at the video, the man who's doing most of the yelling is holding a sign that reads, "I am AFP". That stands for Americans For Prosperity, which is one of the big business interest groups that has been drumming up scare tactics concerning healthcare reform. Their president Tim Philips was on Hardball tonight, and he looked like a donkey.
