Despite 2 illegal upkicks ( one which was seen by the ref, one which wasn't) Jones was willing to stay in Vera's guard and go to work. He finished him with one of the most vicious elbows I have ever seen. It sounded like a baseball bat hitting a brick wall. Vera's eye socket is probably broken.

It took barely 2 minutes and I dont even think Jones broke a sweat.

Im not saying he deserves a title shot yet, but if he racks up 2 or 3 more wins against big name comp, why not?

He has amazing wrestling, vicious knees and elbows from the guard and clinch, an inhuman 84.5 inch reach, unorthodox striking and a great attitude to boot.

In another year or so I guarantee he will be fighting for the title at 205.

Definitely a talented young dude with alot of upside.

That said, I hate the upkick rule. The guy on top to gets to rain down elbows but the guy on the bottom can't kick?

I hate a lot of the gay little rules. For example, the elbows that got JJ dq'd against Hammel is a total joke. The stupid no knees to face while the guys on the ground rule that Kongo kept violating against Buentello makes no sense, and on and on.

Im not saying that they should allow face stomping ala pride, but there are way too many little bs rules.

I agree with Jon Jones being a contender/title holder in the near future.  But I don't see Dos Santos being a titleholder.  I think the bigger guys like Velasquez, Cain, Mir, and Lesnar will be to much for him if it hits the ground.  But Dos Santos does have heavy hands and anything is possible.

I couldn't disagree more...and you know he is actually taller (6'4) than all the guys you just mentioned right...
which means he has a frame big enough to pack on some more size and being that he's only 26 years old I defiantly can see him doing so....not to mention he is 240lbs not exactly small you know....Factor that with him being the fastest heavyweight (by far) with his excellent footwork & hand speed...well...he will be around for a long time my friend....
