Immediate tax credits for small businesses

Drug help for seniors - rebate checks and the donut holes go away

Ins companies can no longer deny coverage for pre-existing conditions

in 90 days...

All kids get covered.

You can no longer be dropped if you get sick.

No more lifetime limits on benefits

Kids can now be covered until age 26 - not 22 as it is now.

Now, poliically speaking, we have to see what groups suddenly get peeled away from the category of "pissed off republicans dying to vote the dems out in 2010 and 2012".

Immediately...
Will small business owners decline the tax credit?
Will seniors cash the $250 donut hole refund check, then vote against Dems?
Will people with pre-existing conditions prefer to get dropped from their insurance?

In 90 days...
Will people be cool with their kids not having coverage?
Will people be cool with getting dropped when they get sick?
Will any parent of a kid aged 23 to 26 be okay with their kid being uninsured?

In 2014...
Will ANY senior DECLINE medicare preventative care?

Please, let's not turn this into a discussion of how it's commie, marxist, etc. Let's talk about the political ramifications. How many of these people listed above, once obama does his little Bill Selling Spree, will stop hating the bill? Yes, the taxes are going to be bad, we know that. But are seniors really going to decline preventive care on medicare?

mccain and Romney both came out today and called for a total recall of this bill.

I love the idea of changing the age. However, they did not mention anything about immediately drafting a bill to rescue 23 year olds. nor did they make this law in the 12 years they owned congress.

To me, this was more of 'tossing out 1 of 10 ideas they can live with" so they can claim they contributed, and to not piss off young voters who don't like obama now.

honestly, if I had to bet the rent check, i'd say if Obama cancelled this entire bill tomorrow, the repubs would not introduce a bill to keep 23-26 year olds covered.

But you are 100% correct - however, the top repubs say they want to repeal the entire billl, and none of them have mentioned anything to keep the 23 year olds covered. maybe they just forgot?

Meh, that's more of an issue of liking the totality of the bill.

You'll get no argument from me about Republicans sitting on their asses and that's why we are saddled with this thing.

Personally, I think it's pathetic. The party of "self-reliance" wants people covered until they're 26? Why not put a fucking bib on them too?

I left at 18, and many of the people on this board have noted they have been taking care of themselves from an early age.

So 26 and still mooching off mommy and daddy? Unless you're disabled or have had some significant hardship, that's just pathetic...

maybe... but if you are a doctor or a lawyer, you go to school for 8 years. So that means instead of allowing kids to finish college and still be covered, they can now be covered until they finish grad school.

We're gonna need doctors, as a lot of them have said they'll retire now.

The problem(s) are not in the things you listed above. Better insurance coverage, no more losing insurance or rates going up causing you to lose your insurance, a host of the things on this list are all great thing, but again, that's not the problem
All kids get covered.

We have created a system that is not sustainable, one that will more than likely collapse in on itself. I will be the first to say, I hope I'm wrong, I actually and honestly do not want to be right but basic math tells us our economy cannot handle this legislation. If it cannot handle it then the efforts made, even if under a noble cause, the legislation becomes worthless.

The second problem, it opens the door to more and more entitlement legislation...this may be an even bigger problem than the monstrous problem mentioned above.

And this is supposed to lower the cost of Insurance ? or the cost of Health Care ?

The Truth:
Get ready for your rates to quadruple in the next 12 to 24 months Rob (which is the true goal of Obama, so he can then push for a single payer )) and also get ready for the waiting time for your child to see a doctor to get longer by 6 to 8 months Rob, and that is if you can even find one.
