Congressman: Dollar Could Collapse To Absolute Zero
Presidential candidate Ron Paul warns of coming global economic depression

Paul Joseph Watson
Monday, October 8, 2007

Presidential candidate Ron Paul has made a dire prediction that the dollar could collapse to absolute zero - precipitating hyper inflation, soaring oil prices and a global economic depression if current policies are continued.

"Once they realize the American people have awakened to the con game that's been going on - I think those people running the banking and monetary system aren't going to be too happy," Paul told the Alex Jones Show on Friday.

"If they continue what they're doing, it's gonna go to zero, we're gonna have runaway inflation, all paper currencies eventually self-destruct and are ruined, and we're in uncharted waters right now - this is the first time in the history of man you've had no solid currencies around the world and this has been going on for 35 years."

Ron Paul: The Dollar Is Next

By tmartin on February 8, 2009

Ron Paul released a video update on the Stimulus Package. He says that the Keynesian and socialistic mentality behind the package will run the economy further into the ground and might eventually destroy the dollar.

Gold Hits Six Week Low As Dollar Strengthens

LONDON (Reuters) - Gold slid to a six-week low on Wednesday as the dollar rose more than 1 percent versus the euro, with a ratings downgrade of Portugal and persistent worries over debt-laden Greece weighing on the single currency.

The dollar also took support from data showing new orders for long-lasting U.S. manufactured goods rose for the third straight month in February.

Spot gold fell as low as $1,088.05 an ounce, its weakest since February 12, and was bid at $1,091.95 an ounce at 1513 GMT (11:13 a.m. EDT), against $1,101.65 late in New York on Tuesday.

The euro slid to its lowest since early May last year against the dollar as investors flocked to the perceived safety of the U.S. currency on concerns over the euro zone.

Good stuff. The economy is starting to recover and all the Doomsdayers are going to be disappearing off into the shadows soon enough.

There were about 25 threads a day here at one point predicting the dollar collapse as being imminent. Funny how that worked out.  ::)

people in the UK have been buying up USD for the last 18 months, anxious to see it rebound against the Euro.

RPaul's predictions, along with schiff and others, would have been correct - However, the US govt intervened and took some actions.  They were the bailout and stimulus bill.

now, did many bankers take $ and run?  Sure.  Were bonuses obscene?  Yes.  But somehow, all the wise people from 2007/2008 who said the dollar was toilet paper - their predictions haven't come true.  Yet?

My personal belief is that while we're all aware of the sham that is the US money system... perhaps the rest of the world is either dependent upon us, scared of us, and/or their money systems are just as shaky.

So things will probably continue to slowly trend downward overall as the world realizes we were living beyond our means for decades... but a crash?  I don't see it.

New home sales today reported the worst record ever.

"New home sales today reported the worst record ever.  "

If used cars were at a record low price - very nice cars for awesome prices - then only a fool would buy a NEW car?

Apply this logic to houses.  Why in the world would I spend $300k here in South FL for a new home to be constructed - when I can get a $400k house for $125k RIGHT NOW on my own block?

Yes, New shit doesn't sell when you can get used shit at better prices and better value.

thats the hole point of what i said 240  i know how new vs. used is  but  the lack of new shit bought is proof that there is nothing getting better   and those who believe that need to come up for water every now and then

'i know how new vs. used is  but  the lack of new shit bought is proof that there is nothing getting better  '

there isn't much difference between a brand new 2010 home vs. a foreclosed 2006 home.

The 2006 home will cost a little less than HALF the price. Often, much less.  You would have to be dumb, or very rich, to buy a new home round these parts right now.

So I don't think 333386's beef about new home sales means all that much.   Yes, new cars won't sell if you can buy a 4-year old version of that car with 20k miles next door for 1/4 of the price.

Bindare had some great advice -  you never know when shit will go sideways.  It just takes one nutjob to set off a nuke, a meteor to land someplace important, or some flu bug to take off - and suddenly currency loses most value and society's shit hits the fan, for a month, a year, or longer.

bindare taught me to be prepared for anything like that.  Yes, the dollar crises has been averted for now.  But it's always good to diversify and be prepared for anything.

240 thats not true at all  if the person that got foreclosed on didnt have any equity in the home or didnt make a sizable down payment you dont really get too much better of a deal  and you better hope they kept the home up  or you will be stuck paying for renovations  to make it pass code inspection   seen that a million times    more than half the homes in my neighborhood are in foreclosure and cant sell cause the price is outrageous,

Perfect reason why anybody should be prepared with diversity in their finances and have some non perishable food on hand.

can someone please quote where Ron Paul said the dollar would be collapsed by now?  In the videos I've seen I've heard him say it's going to take a dollar collaps to wake people up.  He's said he thinks its going to happen.  I've never heard him say by Oct 09 it will happen or something.  Can someone quote otherwise?

So he may have been talking about 1,000 years from now? Good to know. Thanks for proving my point.

He's a shill from the same cut as Roubini and Co. He's good at duping a lot of sheep, though.

Actually he has said many times over that Austrian economics predicts trends, never specific dates. Marc Faber agrees with him though...

Nice move by dipshit "Hugo" to use a FIXED NEWS poll to justify the Paul Ron fella's wackiness, and then lock the thread.
