so i made the thread about my friend passsing away, everyone was very cool and respectful and I greatly appreciated it. And then slate put this gem in:

Son, you can't change getbig. It is what it is...and compassion is not one of its qualities, for better or worse...

Sounds like your friend was not a happy person and was ultimately responsible for his own death. The only thing sad about his death is that he died by his own doing because he was unable to appreciate being alive. I have way more sympathy for our military personnel dying for a cause they believe in. Don't come to the internet for sympathy in the future Disturbia, it really shows a lack of attachment in your life to anyone meaningful.

It was a bit mean but looking for sensitivity here is a risk you take for your loved ones. I thought what Slate said was cruel but I looked at it the same way I do THE FAMILY GUY! Mean but funny for the fact it was mean.

It is sad that your friend passed away, but you need to develop a thicker skin--yesterday! I have taken my share of abuse here; more than you will ever know as most of it happened long before you registered here. I dealt with it (mostly by ignoring it). I took the lickings… and kept on ticking… and in so doing I earned the grudging respect of even some of the guys here who hate me. Life is full of immature assholes; you need to learn to deal with this because they are not going away anytime soon. Let me give you a tip: one of the most potent things you can do to someone is completely ignore them...

In case you haven’t learned it by now, this is not the place to show vulnerability and find succor. Save that for private messages, or better yet, for the people in your life who really matter.

Another tip: living well is the best revenge!
