Fitness equipment, functional or entertaining?
« on: March 30, 2010, 07:56:39 AM »
I'm certainly not a machine fan but yesterday I was in a new gym with a Hoist plate loaded machine line. The last one felt pretty good on my lats.

But what about the moving seat, it is a functional or entertainment feature?
I go for the last one, it felt like riding on a drunk donkey  :-\

Machines are nice but I hope they have an option to have a weight stack on these products

I carry the Body Solid Line and soon Bodycraft.  There's already a dealer in the area for Hoist Fitness so I can't sell their products

Looks gimmicky and distracting.  Can't see any benefit.

I won't recommend Hoist, not only because of their seats. Some machines are hard to adjust and feel pretty unstable; not the quality you should expect from a commercial line. A brand like HammerStrenght may be more expensive but is so much easier to adjust and is more stable.

Hoist has some equipment that would be very benefical to sell to a gym but Body Solid still has better pricing and and a much better customer service dept in place

Then show me an example of a good Hoist machine, one without the drunk donkey feature

The machines you showed were from the Roc-It series but the CF Series is no joke

The gym has 2 smiths, not sure if they have one from Hoist. At least one is from Sportsart since the gym owner is their dealer for my country
