I went to a couple in Hawaii.  back around 85 or so I sent in my application to compete.  It wasn't accepted.  My best friend at the time is still the youngest person to ever compete in the WSM.  I seriously thought about entering in the early 90's but that quickly changed.

They didn't give a reason.  My friend helped me fill out the application. You used to have to submit it to Transworld Entertainment back then.  I think it was because my only strength accomplishments were from armwrestling and the questions all about the lifting were just gym lifts and not competition.  Not really sure since my friend didn't compete in powerlifting or anything like that.  his agent got him in there.  At that time I didn't have an agent

It's funny they had to create rules to prevent Kaz from winning every show.

They simply never invited him back for five years. They wanted new blood in the sport, the thought was that if Kaz kept winning , people would lose interest. He was so dominant, especially at things, like the stones, keg toss, barrell load, etc.... that they felt he wouldn't be beat.

He came back in 88, and placed 2nd, 89 he placed 4th.

Yeah, at his largest, he was 6'2.5"-6'3" and 340 pounds. Strongest mofo to ever grace this earth. SUPER HUMAN strength and focus. The 360 pound overhead log press and beer keg toss in 1981 comes to mind and so does his silver dollar 1055 pound deadlift performed twice, as a means to show the judges that he could straighten out his knees AND he was injured (groin pull) when he performed it... The man NEVER gave up...

Oh we can't forget the sumo challenge in 1982 when he man handled 290 pound football player....

That photo above is he is tied to the front of my Bronco.  He is holding a rope which is tied to the back bumper of the TV truck.  We were shooting an episode of a show in Hawaii.  So he had them slowly give it gas and then floor it.  He held the truck and made the tires spin and smoke all over the place.  It was so funny cause all these people were watching and getting out of the cars and coming out from their houses cause it was making so much notice and smoke.  It was awesome on camera.  I had to put my truck in reverse and kind of give it a little gas cause it was pulling my whole truck forward.  We then placed some rocks and logs under the tires.

And yes age does make you shorter especially when the discs compress.  I was in the doctors yesterday and they this neat height measuring thing I stood under and I am actually about 1 little line under 6' now.  I was solid 6'1" back in the 90's.  So I am getting shorter and wider.  SHIT!

He also competed in PURE STRENGTH 1 in 1987 against Geoff Capes and Jon Pall Sigmarsson. Jon Pall DOMINATED and Capes had to pull out I think.. Kaz came back for PURE STRENGTH 2 in 1988 where they were all in teams of 2 and this was the first time we saw Jamie Reeves. THEN Kaz came back to WSM in 1988 and then again in 1989 where he tore his bicep, twisted his ankle (both in the FIRST event) and he continued all the way until the end coming in a respectable 4th. He was a fierce warrior and btw, his heaviest bodyweight ever was 350 pounds according to him.
