kobe's 3 times to the finals, if he can get a win here then they/we/the media can put him in jordans level and never ever mention lebrons name in the same sentance.

Anyone here from Cleveland? i hear james was there judging a dunk contest and fans were begging him tell him to stay, is that the kind of losers that breed in that city??

he never acknowledged any fans..lol

Gotcha. I read your original post, that lacked any pro Boston points, so I assumed I was supposed to state my opinion as to why you were undervaluing the Celtics improvements.

This song is older than me, but a great segway for the game. Don't fear your fate, Beach...embrace it  ;D

lol.  We shall see.   :)  Should be a great series.

He's in the Finals for the seventh time in his career and third year in a row.  Pretty darn impressive.

I was just thinking about this. If he wins this one, he's right there with sportmens like Brady, Montana, Jordan -- etc.

he still has ways to go, he rode shaq's coattails for years

i'd put tim duncan ahead of him

it's cool to see the celtics back in the finals, i always kinda liked them because they were mostly white in the 80's ;) ;D

seriously though the celtics are a 3 seed which is pretty high for an nba team in the finals, the nba playoffs are starting to show a little more parody, which is a good thing imo, everybody had the cavs or magic in the finals

With four rings, all star, all NBA, and all NBA defense selections pretty much every year, he's already there.

Tim Duncan is a great player.  Or at least he was.  He's no longer an elite player IMO.  Father Time has caught up with him.

Kobe doesn't have to prove anything.  He's already one of the greatest players in NBA history.  Very soon, he's going to own every Laker record on the books.

And no, he didn't ride Shaq's coattails.  Absurd.  Shaq was the most dominant big man in the league during his time in LA, but Kobe played just an important a role as Shaq during the championship run.

I doubt it.

Here is where he currently ranks in major categories:

Regular season:

Points:  1st
Assists:  3rd
Rebounds:  9th (offensive rebounds - 7th)
Steals:  2d
Blocks:  7th
FTs made:  2d
Games played:  2d
Minutes played 2d
Three pointers made:  1st

Playoffs:

Points:  2d
Assists:  3d
Rebounds:  6th
Steals:  2d
Blocks:  3d
Games played:  3d
FTs made:  3d
Three pointers made:  1st

he wasn't the best player on his team and would only have 1 title without shaq

it is absurd to put him in the same category as jordan, if he wins this year i'll put him ahead of pippen

Pippen a better player than Kobe?  That's laugh out loud funny.   :)

I think the whole "greatest player ever" discussions (regardless of sport) are pretty subjective.  For example, I've never seen Oscar Robertson play, but some think he was the greatest ever.  He may have averaged a triple double for his career (they apparently didn't keep those stats then).  Others who didn't watch the game in the 80s may not know what a dominant player Kevin McHale was.  Or what a beast Moses Malone was.  Or how good Mo Cheeks, Isaiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, and Dennis Rodman (before he lost his mind) were.

Regarding Jordan, I have him somewhere around 3rd, behind Kobe and Magic, and maybe just ahead of Bird.  If we were talking positions or all-time greatest teams, mine would look something like this:

C:  Shaq/Kareem
PF:  McHale
SF:  Bird
SG:  Kobe/Jordan
PG:  Magic

What is it that you saw during the 2000-2003 Laker championship run that to led you to conclude that Kobe "rode shaq's coattails for years"?

Anyone that says jordan is behind Kobe and Magic are clearly biased...Hell even magic and bird have been quoted as saying Jordan was the best...
