1) Thief - Great film all around, great soundtrack too.

2) Peckinpah's Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garica- Great bleak film.

3) Smokey and the Bandit.

There are a few more, like Ride the High Country, etc.... but those are my big three right now.
Not Bad. Not Bad. Gonna be keeping my eye on you.  ;D

Still, for good reason.  Every scene in that movie is ROTM.

But ok.  Really enjoyed Lost in Translation.  She eclipsed papa big time.  My Dinner with Andre is right up there, although adapted for screen.  This place is sort of Brechtian too.  Starship Troopers, Dead Poets Society, 5 Easy Pieces, most Woody Allen especially Annie Hall, The Life Aquatic (and Rushmore), 8 1/2, Fast Times, Joe vs The Volcano, and Red Dawn!  ;D
Some superb choices in that list, bro.  :)

Dr Chimp... Jack Elam and my best Marine Corp bud were great buddies and that train depot scene was a major break for Jack. And all Hollywood was root'en for him because of that train depot scene.

I loved it so damn much that I even bougt the soundtrak and wore it out eventually. (The harmonica theme was unreal! I still hum it often inside my head!)

If I recall right, that fly in the pistol barrel was Jack's idea and his alone and it developed when Leone said, "Just keep the camera roll'en on his face!"

Hollywood movie cameras loved Jack's ugly face.

He was also very close to Wayne and other top stars back then.

Come to think of it, I'm gonna check his IMDB credits right now.

Did I ever tell ya I spend a lot of time on set with Edward Everette Horton. Great guy and great character actor! Google him. You'll definitely recognize him.

Also spend time talking to the voice of the Cheshire Cat from the origial Disney movie .... Alice in Wonderland who did a lot of young acting work with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. I forget his name at this precise moment.

Come to think of it, I've met quite a few of these old time actors and was famous for sneaking on numerous movie and TV sets when I was a rambuncious kid. Eventually they got to know me and just overlooked my uninvited visits.

I think I've told these stories earlier but I appeared on film with Sinatra and Novak and a few others without an invite or even a SAG card.

Fun days,

Damn! Thanks, Dr. That's definitely a keeper! I forgot about Woody being in that movie too but I think that he was allowed to ab-live his scenes also.

Woody was also a friend of my my good friend (Force Recon Jack) and he was alway on or around the set where Jack was working, but I never did get a chance to meet him. But I did see him working just a few feet away and even though he was an old man at that time, he was in great shape.

Here's an interesting story you guys might appreciate. If not, tuff shit! ,,,, Read it anyway.

I was running around various sets at Universal waiting for some friends to get off work and found myself in a very dark sound stage with a bit of light coming from one of the far ends of that stage. So I walked in that direction and soon realized that they were filming a scene on the other side of a small 'partition' that I was presently standing behind.

And I could hear some spoken dialogue so I immediately stopped to avoid any footstep sounds and squatted on the floor so I would not trip over any wires that were strewn around. Sound guys get pissed off easily.

And so I sat there and listened to take after take after take for pretty close to an hour.

Finally the dialogue ceased and someone yelled "Break!" or something and I got up to stretch out my legs and Raymond Burr comes rolling over from the other side of that partition (it was a fireplace set) and laffs asking me how long I'd been standing there so quietly.

And I said, "Way too long!" and he said something like, "Yea, likewise here!" and went wheeling off in his wheelchair.

Then one of the light guys or set guys informs me that they had just shot the opening scene of a new TV show to be called "Ironsides" and that I had been 'caught' (but not seen on film/tape behind the fireplace).

"You did great being quiet, kid! But too bad you're not getting paid for your efforts!"

And then someone hit me over the head with a breakaway which was some sort of initiation for sneaking in uninvited back then.

I've probably been hit with more break-a-ways than John Wayne, but most say that's damn near impossible.

ANd in the meantime Mr Burr becomes a major TV star.

Ride the High Country .... That was a major unexpected winner and a major break for Randolph Scott. In fact it was probably the big surprise in Hollywood back then.

Superb movie. Scott and McCrea kinda decided to let that be their last movie. I dare anyone to see the last scene with Joel looking over his shoulder at the mountains and then falling forward and dying not to cry...  ;)
