What if Glen Beck went to MSNBC tomorrow?

Suppose he moved to MSNBC and completely changed his ideologies.  He becomes a complete lib tomorrow.  He continues the same great show in identical format, and he makes the same valid points for his cause nightly.

What happens to his ratings? 

The answer, IMO, is that his ratings would tank.  Not because his show would be any weaker, but because more conservatives simply watch cable nightly news.  When FOX destroys MSNBC, it's not because of quality of host nor show quality.  it's because conservatives like conservative shows, and more of them watch cable nightly news.

Liberal talk doesnt sell,your 100% correct.It doesnt work on radio or television.However,if what you say is true,Beck wouldnt draw as much as he does at 5pm.Thats a pretty crappy hour in the day to draw and yet he draws.His ratings beat most shows on FOX at much better hours.So obviously he has something people like to see.Yes,his ratings would drop as a lib,but guys like John Stweart and Colbert do great[I know its comedy but political commedy]so its a combination of content and personality.

Correct.  Because CNN is in the middle, they have more viewers than MSN, on the left.  There aren't nealy as many libs watching cable news as there are conservatives.  CNN went down when they lost beck because he took his conservative viewers with him.

Every time I hear people gloat that FOX beats MSN, I am baffled.  Of course they are going to. 

Can anyone find an age bracket survey of who watches cable news at night?  Common sense tells you its a lot more older & conservatives watching, than younger and liberal.  Cable news is BORING, let's be honest lol... and braindead libs enjoy idol, Dancing, etc.

Beck would drop on MSNBC - not becase of the network - but because less libs watch cable news.

This week, WWE raw and Nick kids' awards topped cable ratings.  To, both of these are mindless, ignorant shite.  They offer little more than drunk redneck wrasslin' and some annoying kids show characters getting slimed.  There are far better shows offering much more.

However, there are more wrasslin' fans and kids shows watching cable, than there are viewers who enjoy more sophisticated shows.


Another way to look at it - the most borrowed library books are romance novels and political books - are these the books in the library that offer the most?  No way.  The bible, encyclopedias, etc offer way more.  however, these books have the most followers.

GET REAL!!! Nobody does more shouting and ranting than the goofs on MSNBC. Yet, they continued to get their behinds whipped by Fox year after year after year.

jag, you know better than that...there are intelligent people on both sides that like detail and there are others that have a limited attention span and just like to yell, complain and be heard.

I don't like Beck's style.  I think he was actually more watchable on CNN.  I watched his CNN show but not as much on Fox.  Even if I agree with him on certain issues, at times he gets hysterical/emotional.  If I want a solid conservative opinion, I'll listen to someone like Newt.
