If you've been lifting seriously for 10 or 15 (or 30 like me) years...there isn't anything they know that you don't. Genetics and drugs made them what they were, not the way they trained.

I can lift balls out, gonzo heavy like Ronnie or i can be more controlled and analytical like Dorian....lifting is lifting.

If you've been lifting for 15 years all advice is pretty much useless anyway. You're set in your ways. :P

Personally i don't agree with that....I'm an "old dog' if ever there was one and I'm open to new shit.

Perfect example i did legs today and i did exclusively single leg movements for the entire workout...12-16 reps and really focused.

But I hear what you re saying..lotta dudes just go through the motions

no, dorian did not  have "shit" genetics.....no mr olympia has "shit" genetics

you might prefer ronnie's structure to dorians, but to say he had shit genetics is ridiculous

Am I the only one that thinks Dorian looked better in the "Hope" segment, then he did in his "Glory?" ???

Basically the 2 greatest Bodybuilders of all time, but who do you think trained smarter.

Personally I think dorians genetics were not as good as ronnie and imo dorian was better but what do you think.

Dorian- low volume, 3 hours a week

ronnie- higher volume, 6 days a week

While I respect Ronnie for his achievements, I pick Dorian hands down. Dorian just seems more practical in his advice. Ronnie would be talking about believing in Jesus, while Dorian would be talking about the actual workout. No yip yip, just clear and concise advice and directions. That's what I would want from a trainer.

Neil Peart radically changed the way he held his drum sticks when he played drums in 2002 (underhanded, vs. overhanded). The BEST drummer in the world changed his technique. The shittiest bodybuilder in the world can always change his. I've been lifting weights for 21 years and until I watched a Dorian training session where he said focus more on the negative and slow it down (more controlled), I never knew there was another way than the one I had been using. So, if you wants better results, you'll be open to new methods that have been proven to work.

Nope, I think Ronnie would tell you to grind it out. Looking at his vids, it pretty much seems that he hypes himself up and lift. I think he pretty much can tell who and when to talk about Jesus. Jesus freaks always want to convert you, Ronnie seems like he would slap a weight in your hand rather than a Bible.

They are both all about action, not talk. I agree with that. I just think Dorian will be a lot more about technique and Ronnie a lot more about just doing what feels right. Dorian will push you to go far beyond what you thought you would ever be able to do, even if it means by him calling you a pussy and not being a real man. Ronnie wouldn't do that.

Dorian comes across as the smarter of the two , this maybe very unfair to Big Ron as I've never met either but its just how they project themselves.

Also Ronnie was trained to win , he didnt think about it himself he was told what to do  , drugs included.

Dorian thought it all out for himself so on this Id say Dorian..both ugly bodys but I have always admired Dorians drive and determination.

Dorian always leaned towards the more measured, analytical approach, whereas Ronnie is all about the powerlifting style of training with terrible form.

Either way is good - it's about finding out what works for you. As long as you're stimulating the muscles thouroughly and eating properly and consistently, then all you can do is sit back and let your genetics do the rest.

Like the late Arthur Jones used to say, you would'nt ask a race horse how it trains.

Very true. But Dorian was the horse and the trainer in one person. But i wouldn't ask advices from any of the pros. Whaty they would say surely wouldnt work with my avarage genetics. Over 190cm the world looks different :D
