Fights like Edgar/BJ why I love this sport. All the props and respect in the world to Edgar. IMO opinion something was wrong with BJ, but we will never know, as BJ is has enough respect to never mention anything. BJ had no ground game or couldn't really defend the takedowns. That doesn't add up. Maybe he overlooked Edgar. Who knows.

If BJ was injured or not is meaningless though. If you are well enough to not drop the fight, you are fair game.
Although many have argued that the decision was BS...I think Edgar outperformed and looked amazing.


I love when things like this happen. Edgar just mixed up that division. It needed it!

Edgar did enough to earn a win, and BJ should have known to NEVER leave it to the judges. Edgar looked good and was definitely the aggressor. That carries a lot of weight with the judges scoring. Whomever is landing more is part of it, but whomever is also taking the most 'risk' is a big factor in the judges eyes as well.

I like BJ a lot, but I always love to see a humble, hard working underdog like Edgar win. Wasn't like he got a lucky punch either.

yep...If you gave BJ the win you have him winning by his name alone not his performance...I watched this fight with a large group of knowledgeable MMA fans and only 2 out of prob 25 peeps had BJ winning(and those 2 people are from Hawaii and BJ is there favorite fighter)...An unbiased eye watching this fight can only see Edgar as the winner...

If you watch his footwork, especially towards the end, it looks like he was favoring his knee that had a brace.

That weight division is one of the most popular but it was getting boring knowing that BJ could beat everyone in that division.  It was getting to predictable.  They want Edgar to win to stir things up exactly how you guys have said it.  There will be a rematch after one or two title defenses by Edgar.  This will make the next title match with BJ against whomever the biggest match ever.  In other other words BJ did not lose that fight, if you know what I mean.  Did he even once try to take it to the ground.  If he did everyone knows he would have destroyed and not have and excuse why he lost to Edgar.  Just saying.................

BJ always stands between rounds. Even in the GSP fight when he was barely conscious he was still standing. I like BJ, he is one of my favorite fighters, but there is no conspiracy here.

Only taken down 2 or three times...that in itself is ridiculous for BJ. BJ didn't get taken down once against Diego. Not to mention BJ didn't take the fight down once. Why would BJ choose to stand with a guy, when that is the guys strongest area? I understand he wanted to maybe trade with Edgar, but when that is not working don't you think he would want to take it to the ground, or at least try?

Bottom line, something was wrong with BJ Saturday, but we will never truly know what it was. BJ never makes excuses.

Maybe Edgar really is that good. Time will tell.

what exactly are you saying?seriously...don't beat around the bush...what exactly are you claiming happened here?....Are you saying the powers that be fixed the fight?are you saying BJ threw the fight?...please be specific...

And to mindspins post above^^^I picked Edgar to and have my fantasy MMA sheet to prove it...(I also picked Maia)but anyways....trying to turn that fight into some mathematic equation is futile and quit ridiculous....Frankie Edgar won that fight....Like I said some people can't separate name,emotion,and bias from reality....Frankie was the better fighter that night period..no Ifs and's or butt's....Take away the past take away the names & the reputation a truly genuine unbiased eye watching that fight cannot Deny BJ lost and Frankie won....

I agree that on paper, BJ won. But watching the fight Edgar 'appeared' to be the aggressor. But that is only my opinion.

This is another example of very 'subjective' judging. No fighter can cry bad decision when it is left to the judges.

I have to believe he was in someway injured.  He looked soft/chubby.  He was not very aggressive.  And he didn't go for any serious takedowns.  Really weird.  No disrespect to Franky, but I've seen BJ face much stiffer competition and make mincemeat out of them.  Something was off...

Well the first time was less than half a second.  And you don't take him down to let him up.  Not BJ.  BJ got up, Edgar didn't let him up.  And he attempted 5 or 6 times
