Author Topic: Petition to DISCONTINUE Insurance for Uneducated Personal Trainers (Read 3125 times)

In the coming days, I will be posting a link to an official petiition that I am starting which will be eventually distributed to all major health care professional insurance providers. The basis of the petitition is to discontinue insurance coverage for personal trainers that lack true qualifications. In real world terms, this means no insurance coverage unless you have, at minimum, a B.S. in Exercise Science or Nutrition as well as a certification that cannot be completed online, at home, or in a 48 hour workshop. The only exception to this would be the allowance of continued coverage for trainers that do not meet these qualifications as long as they are employed only in a major training company, subcontracted to a commercial gym chain; then they would qualify for coverage under the umbrella of said training company.

Effectively, this would force all unqualified and uneducated trainers into commercial gym settings while they earn their degree and certifications. The removal of independent operating scam artists who steal the money of the consumer will be an extremely positive move for the fitness industry.

I already have a few big names in the fitness industry (training managers of a few very high end commercial gyms, for example) on board with this petitition and I hope to see the support of those of you on this board that want to help out the fitness industry and guarantee protection for the consumer.

So instead of letting your credentials speak for themselves, you would rather "outlaw" those with more experience and expertise taking business from you since they get results? Doesn't matter how you word it, it all boils down to you trying to protect your academical investment. Assuming this isn't a gimmick.

It is for the protection of the client and the integrity of the industry. Do we allow people who have not finished medical school to perform surgery?

Epic loser having spent 6 years of his life pursuing a masters degree in 'fitness' is now bitter because guys that did a weekend personal training course are making 4x what he is...Hahahahahaha

LOL...both of those exist at my gym but to make it even better the public park 'boot camps' are video taped and showed in a DVD loop on large flatscreens 24/7 in the cardio area while the walls are punctuated with following two signs:

Is "exercise science" something completely different in the US? Over here (Europe) those studying exercise science become fysiotherapists, working with injured people, old people etc

I actually went to university, got a bachelor's and got a great job, unlike you, wasting 6 years of your life to get a masters in fitness, hahahahah...
