This what I have been trying to tell all of you.  The "free market" is a joke.  Always has been.  Furthermore, the system has been historically closed and only open to a select few.  Only recently have women and minorities have been included in our economic system. 

America was built on Socialism for the Rich, Capitalism for the Poor with a closed door to anyone who was not white.

The capitalist make money at all costs attitude brought on the crisis - only afterwards when everyone realised they fucked up did they start bailing out the rich people - call it socialism for the rich.

Thats absolutely not true.  Thr govt, via the Federal Reserve and laws and regulations intended to increase home ownership to those who did not qualify under normal lending practices were what started the ball rolling on this mess.

These laws were put into place to make sub-prime loans look more attractive - ie. have a higher return in the long run. No lender was doing anything out of the goodness of their heart - they only saw more dollars.

That's right, that is why placing all the blame on only one actor does not really tell the whole story of what occurred. 

It was the worst combination you can imagine, govt and wall street in partnership with both having a mutual interest to steal money from our pockets.
