Without taxes, the roads you drive one, the water you drink and someone of you shower with, the electricity you get wouldn't be there.  Sure water and electricity would but the cost would bankrupt everyone without support of the US.  The schools that most of you got educated in, the colleges that some of you went to exist because of taxes we pay.  Everything you take for granted wouldn't exist or would at outrageous costs.

Man you guys are retards.  I don't agree as to why we spend over 20% of the tax money on the military though.  That is the biggest waste.  The cops, the firemen, the ambulances and yes prisons wouldn't be there.  Do you think this is a better world for having prisons or not having them?  Man you guys are a bunch of teen retards that have no clue how this world works.

Democrat in the thread . I filed my extension yesterday and I fudged quite a bit more than normal and still owe those bastards a large chunk of money. It's ridiculous because I have alot taken out already! Nothing bothers me more with taxes than knowing my money is going to be used for frivulous government spending and welfare recipients that don't deserve it...

Nobody is advocating no taxes. But the amount the government confiscates and what they do with our money is what drives people nuts. Remember the road to nowhere in Alaska? The millions spent on the study of bovine flatulence effects on the environment? I read about a program costing 2.6 million to discourage the use of alcohol by Chinese prostitutes while on the job. Charles Rangel got 2 million  for a library commemorating his 37 years in office. Even things like the NEA, the National Endowments for Arts, does not merit tax payer funding. And I love art just as much as the next guy but I don't think it should be financed by truck drivers, teachers, welders, Walmart clerks... and all the other hard working Americans trying to keep body and soul together.

It should be noted that without our military we would not be the world leader. And many advocate that we shouldn't strive to maintain that leadership world. But don't think for a moment that if we lose that leadership role that another country wouldn't step up. And by the looks of things, the other countries waiting in the wings are Russia, China and North Korea.

The world is still a very dangerous place and still ruled by force. If not us, then who?

For people who advocate or have no problem with high taxes I always wonder what makes them think that the government can spend your money better than you, the one that actually earned it. There is far more waste when you get to spend someone else's money than when you spend your own.

And don't think for a money that the government "gives" anybody anything with all these give away programs. They can't give anybody anything simply because the government have nothing to give. What they give to one person they taken away from someone else.

This recent increase in job growth is misleading because most of those jobs are government jobs. Government jobs does nothing for the economy because they get their money and are paid for by the private sector. If we all worked for government no one would get paid.
