I find it amusing that the obsessional Nasser poster think his non-attendance was a snub on him. Rather, it was he who snubbed the show. You fail to see that this was singularly powerful gesture by Nasser that he has moved on to better pastures and simply does not need to take this small opportunity to publicize himself - especially when he have a book soon to be published.
No, his "no thank you" to the amateurish and insultingly paltry ASC committee managed to totally undermine the whole thing. Really, one of the very greatest winner not even being there while the desperate, broke and ailing have to pay their own expenses just to stand there, it makes it a fucking joke.
Nasser has better and bigger fish to fry then to stand next to a cardboard cutout and acknowledge his rightful victory in a career of thefts.
It's a shame the unemployed and loser types here don't see the empowering and autonomous nature of Nasser's snub. Yet again it just show that Nasser is his own man. Nobody, not even Arnold is enough to make this guy do what he doesn't wish to.
He simply don't need this shit as he is still in the spotlight and on the tongues of bodybuilding fans.
I admire him for rejecting this patronizing action. Seriously.
That's your way of rationalizing it, but not true or believable to the slightest degree. If Nasser was indeed snubbing the promoters and not vice versa (which is obviously the case), they'd have had his cut out too, with him not standing next to it. There was no cut out of him onstage, which tells me that it was Jim Lorimer and co who snubbed him. Of course, I may be mistaken here if they did have his cut out but didn't mention it in that pic Delta has posted.
Nasser's defining point in his life was being a bodybuilder and his highest accomplishment in it was winning the AC. So it makes no sense for him to suddenly get all high and mighty to mingle with his ex comrades. And give me a break with the, "he's got bigger fish to fry" BS - by Bobs' own account, he is retired, not to mention he has the time and inclination to meet guys like Alex23, after all. Plus he's writing a book on his bodybuilding memoirs and still lives off his legacy in some ways (selling worn manties, for example), not to mention the whole militant Team Nasser propaganda in Getbig and possibly other forums, so I don't buy the, "he doesn't care about bodybuilding or it's participants" line at all.
My guess is, they asked him to pay the fare and travel expenses himself, which he was too cheap to do. Good thing the others weren't the same way.
