18% of Americans support the Tea party Movement.
« on: April 15, 2010, 10:10:19 AM »
18% of Americans support the Tea party Movement.

In 1992, independent candidate Ross Perot received 18.9 percent of the popular vote for President.

With no Ross Perot in the race, Bush1 destroys Clinton easily.

I'm betting Obama himself is sending money to whatever 2012 Tea party candidate emerges.

my point us that 20 years later, I could see the exact same thing happening.

Some common sense economics candidate (or perhaps an extreme constitutionalist) running under the tea party name, and siphoning a fifth of the vote.

You're a little older than me, right? were you in awe of perot in 92?

It's not surprising.  The Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot.  They have helped mobilize this group by spreading misinformation to the public about Obama and his so called "socialist agenda" (btw how many socialists cut taxes to a majority of citizens? Perhaps an opposite socialist or maybe a misguided one?)

Anyway my point being that they have helped create this 'party' but have done nothing to build on that support for their own party, it's a my enemies enemy scenario because the republicans are still stuck in their ways as corporatists and the tea party are demanding a change from that.  Hence the backlash against Obama.

at some point, no matter how hard she tries to call herself the leader of the tea party, they're gonna force out palin.

she can't stop defending steele, mccain, brown, and other RINOs.

Keyes nailed it.  She's a GOP plant to keep on telling the tea party members to vote repub.  Actually, last week she came out and said that, didn't she?  "Tea party members will have to choose one of the 2 parties", I believe it was.

Where have i claimed it put us in this mess?  I didn't agree with them because they were largely a handout to the wealthy - The Bush tax cuts were skewed dramatically toward the wealthy. In 2004, 60% of the tax cuts went to the top 20 percent of income earners with over 25% going to the top 1% of income earners. Those numbers have increased since then as the cuts to the estate tax have taken effect. - not written by me BTW.  But that doesn't mean i believe they were the reason or cause for a financial meltdown.  In light of the Iraq and Afghan invasions the tax cuts make even less sense though and did weaken us by placing us in a deficit at a time we could ill afford to be in one.  There was more than one party, president or cause for it.

Why?  In the 60's and 70's the top tax rate was around 91% was it not?  It's a damn sight less now than it was then so i don't think anyone can complain given historical context.

No one ever paid that rate as there were tons of exemptions and the local and state burden were not even close to what they are now due to federal mandates.

You, like most libs, are utterly clueless and ignorant of tax law and what is going on.

Federal Medicade mandates alone savage most local budgets just so we can treat drug addicts, aids patients, and other dregs of society.

hahahaha please name which mandates 333 and what the cost is and why it is still more than a 91% tax rate?  Which an explanation and factual evidence you have hearsay, for a lawyer you don't back up a lot of what you say.

I suggest you watch this and realize how needle exchanges SAVE money, how HIV and AIDS medication save money in the long run and how misinformed you really are.

I can back up everything I say.  Medicade is the largest unfunded mandate on local budgets bar none,  look it up.

Personally i just wish we let these people die.  They were warned early on not to engage in reckless gay sex or drug abuse and should not be picking my or your pocket to make up for their irresponsible behavior.

Granted there are cases where there were medical negligence with transfusions, but cry me a river with gay aids patients and drug abusers.

OBAMA HAS NOT CUT ONE TAX!!!This is a liberal lie.He gave a one time tax rebate. The rates havent changed one bit.Why do you libs lie?TAXES HAVE NOT BEEN CUT!!

Now,do you want to compare his pathetic 1300 tax rebate and compare it to Reagan taking the top marginal rate from 70% to 28%?I dont think you do.Then again, care to compare the 30,000,000 jobs created while Reagan was president to the 7 million this fool has lost?I doubt it.

The tea party people will vote republican because republicans are far closer to them then Obama.Polls CLEARLY SHOW THAT.
So keep trying to convince yourself they hsate Palin more then Obama, come Nov. you will be singing a very different story.

No, I believe people need to suffer the consequences of their actions for reckless disgusting behavior and have no right to make a claim on my income to subsidize their personal irresponsaibility.

Yeah, because things were great in the 60s and 70s right? It doesnt matter if they were 91%. Jesus Christ, I cant even imagine that today. You dont think 40% is still a lot to pay? And just so you know, those are people who are employing poor people. So it really was a tax cut for them too. The only badd thing about the Bush tax cuts is that they werent big enough. The taxes are still higher than they were after his dad raised them in 1990.
Jan. Jobs: 36,000!!
