St. Paul Mom Told To Leave Restaurant. For Breastfeeding?
« on: April 15, 2010, 11:17:27 AM »
I can't believe this is still an issue.  We have ne-kid women all over the place (TV, movies, clubs, etc.), but breast feed a kid in public and people get their panties in a bunch.

St. Paul Mom Told To Leave Restaurant. For Breastfeeding?
Wednesday April 7, 2010

Bethany Morton, a mom of two from St. Paul, says she was asked to leave the Old Country Buffet restaurant in Maplewood for breast feeding her baby on Easter Sunday. The restaurant says that the family was asked to leave after Morton's fiance, Joe Santos, became verbally aggressive towards the restaurant's staff.

Allegedly, a server asked Morton to cover up as she was breastfeeding her six-month-old son Dawson. She refused. The restaurant manager arrived, Santos defended his fiancee, and the family was given a refund and asked to leave. Morton acknowledges that Santos was loud, but denies the restaurant's claims that he was shouting and using profanity. A staff member called Maplewood police who arrived at the restaurant, spoke with the couple, but took no action.

Minnesota law protects a mother's right to breastfeed in any public or private location that she and her child are authorized to be. That includes when dining at a restaurant.

The story ran in the Star Tribune, on KARE 11 and the article in the Pioneer Press' online newspaper has received 700 comments, ranging from support to derision of Morton and her family, schoolboy humor, and those wondering what all the fuss is about.

The Chief operating officer of Buffet's, Inc., Old Country Buffet's parent company, called Morton to apologize on Monday. That hasn't appeased her. Morton's friends have started a Facebook group, Boycott Old Country Buffet (they don't like breastfeeding), which has over 1,100 supporters, and is planning a protest of nursing mothers at the restaurant on Monday lunchtime, unless Old Country Buffet apologizes publicly.

I like boobies.

that being said, maybe she was just whipping out the boobie, instead of using a blanket and being discreet.  It's very easy to breastfeed without the entire restaurant seeing your knockers.  Some women don't care.  Most can quickly and quietly nurse and it's not a huge deal.  I've seen some who just slap the titty in the kids mouth and are trashy about it - and her hubby screaming at the staff too?  They sound trash, but thats just my take.

Ontario passed a law about ten years ago stating that women are allowed to be topless in public. Still very rare to see boobs though.  >:(

My wife uses a blanket.  If anyone ever said anyting, I would wait for them to leave and beat the fucking shit out of them.  Ok maybe or maybe not but I would at least chew their ass out so hard they crawl off crying.

I mean I will admit I wouldn't care to see a woman whip out a nip, but not really why I'm eating but would I say anything or flip out FUCK NO. Babies don't have a time clock. I'd pump into a bottle when I was going out to eat (god knows that's when I was a fat tub of shit). The few times I didn't I did have a blanket. I remember not that long ago, my daughter and I were having lunch and she being the nosey female (yes woman are nosey at any age) goes mom why is she doing that, I said turn around and stop staring, she is feeding the baby, she goes ohhhhh thats gross...lol

Why would breastfeeding turn anyone's stomach?  You say, "but not really (why)while? I'm eating"  I can't imagine that would be something that would be gross?  Everytime I've seen it, I didn't really think about it to much other than thinking how cool it was in a life kind a way.  Something about seeing a mother feed her baby just reminds me that we're still creatures on this big planet with all the others.  I know that sounds stupid but I'm just being honest.  It seems so often like we're expected to be drones in a preplanned commercial world.  Shit like this reminds me we're not.  And ok, as I guy I don't mind seeing a chick whip out her tits :D

I never said it was gross..my 5 year old did. I explained to her, what it was. She looked at me like I had 5 eyes. So low and behold when we got home, TLC was showing a baby story and woman giving birth. She goes babies come from there where peepee does. Im like oh god what did I do lol. She said mom you said the doctor cut you open, I said yea because you were to stubborn to come out and after 31 hours of labor I was to tired. It is a beautiful thing, no doubt about it, still dont care to see it though

why would it be a problem while eating ???  That's the part of your statement that I highlighted, not the part where your 5 year old said it.

not attacking you or anything but they're just boobs.  You don't have to look/stare if you don't want.  You implied that it was only not ok for you when you were eating.  Something about seeing them when you're eating strikes the no homo but in other areas it wouldn't?  Just trying to get it?

True but unless they have a comfy couch or chair fuck that. I was fine with a blanket covering up and didn't seem to bother anyone..besides I was eating with the other hand

 >:(

Why don't YOU go to the bathroom to eat your meal.

If you don't have a problem eating your meal in a room where people poop and excrete all sorts of noxious gasses, then I suppose you're free to suggest others do that, ..but don't be surprised when they want no part of it.

Babies have every right to eat anywhere else in public where other people have the right to eat, and if someone doesn't like it, ...they are always free to leave the room.

To me what's really gross is having to watch some fat disgusting greasy pig chomping down the food, quite frequently with their mouths open. Just having to see the mounds of flesh all over their bodies is enough to turn my stomache. If we don't have the right to tell people like that to leave the room because we don't want to see them feeding... we sure as heck don't have the right to tell a nursing mother to go feed her baby elsewhere, ...much less in a toilet.

Fortunately for me when I eat I'm not exposing parts of my body that would get me arrested.

Because they don't (and shouldn't) have to breastfeed next to a toilet.
