California’s Unemployment Rate Hits High Of 12.6% April 16, 2010 California’s unemployment rate reached a new high in March, hitting 12.6%, bolstering fears that unemployment will remain a persistent problem through at least the end of the year. The unemployment rate in February was 12.5%.

California was tied with Rhode Island for the third-highest unemployment rate in the nation, after Michigan and Nevada, according to data released Friday morning by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The national unemployment rate in March was 9.7%.

Though the Golden State added jobs, more than 2.3 million Californians are still unemployed. The struggle for some is about to get tougher. Tens of thousands have been out of work so long, they will see their unemployment checks cut off within the next few weeks.

Despite Obama’s approval on Thursday of an $18-billion measure that extends jobless benefits for many Americans through June 2, the Employment Development Department estimates that about 100,000 Californians will have exhausted their benefits completely by this weekend.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I dunno... people of reason were screaming "YOU CANNOT AFFORD THIS DAMN HOUSE!" to renters from 2001 until 2005... Most of my college peers in the mba program were buying a SECOND home at the time, and mocked me because I said the demand for these houses wouldn't be there when the payments ballooned.

And today, these MBAs are upside down on not one, but TWO homes in the 3rd highest foreclosure city in the country, which means property value will be shit when the places all go to cheap renters or welfare/section 8 govt rentals.

People got greedy, and agreed to balloon payments they wouldn't have the $ for.  It's that simple.  I was living in a trailer while in college, and these bastards were buying a SECOND home when they weren't going to be able to afford the balloon payments on the first.  WTF.

Not only that (blaming individuals for being homeless/foreclosed)....

But that graphic blames Obama.  Really?  These people were evicted and the places foreclosed 2 years ago.  They'd be homeless under Mccain today too.  Blaming Obama because they agreed to some shit they couldn't afford, 5 years ago?

Again, WTF.
