Dumped my Yukon piece of shit when we moved but need something that will allow me to do squats, shrugs and bench a little at home as well, incline or flat... if you have any hook ups, please let me know..

Was tempted by something like this as a space saver, but the guido tool in the back inspires me to punch the wall, plus I might want some safety bars

This won't do, can't move the safety bar... plus only sold in euroland

Looks like my best option is the full powercage:

Some solid schmoe squatting coming out of this one soon:

i always liked the open power racks so you can walk backwards out of it and squat with no paramaters put up around you. feels more confortable, feel more balanced and powerful that way.

I had one like this a few years back - neighbors got evicted and left it behind.  Wish I still had it today, haven't been able to find one locally for a good price.

I tried to donate a couple of benches to goodwill a couple of weeks ago and they wouldn't take them, won't take "fitness equipment"  I even offered to autograph them so they would be memorabilia, but still no go.

I know what you mean but you don't have to stay in the cage.  I've got a BodySolid (I know, I know ::)) like pic 3 and used to just put the pins on the outside to load up.  Don't really think about it now tho.

Alex, if I had to buy again I might go a little more up market, like with safety bars that slide up & down instead of having to be drawn out and reinserted (assuming you can remove them altogether too).  The option to set up the bar outside the cage is good for squats and overheads.  Not sure if all models allow that.  Also the one like you pictured is fine for my poundages but you might want to test it out.  A cable option might be cool if you aren't going to get a multistation but I've never worked with one on a cage.

I'm tempted to bring up the infamous 405lb squat topic here from years ago ;D

Not sure about the rack.  I'd recommend you put your money towards this instead...

I was gonna post that:).

www.elitefts.com .

www.samsonequipment.com/machines/equipment_homegym.aspx?ProdNum=HDFSS .

www.sorinex.com .

Look at equipment by EliteFts, Samson, or Sorinex. All good, super heavy lifetime equipment. You might have to put out a grand or two for a decent one of their racks and a bench, but it's money well spent if you're not going to move anytime soon.

Power racks are the best option. I hate the "gun rack" style squat racks, and the light single purpose ones like the first picture are nice, but better for Olympic type lifters than more of a general lifter.

No, but if you're really nice, you can call Elitefts and get Jim Wendler on the phone:).

Seriously that rack is nice, most of the odd looking things are just band attachments, etc....

The powercage is definitely the best option - we've got one at Temple Gym and it's ideal for deadlifts and squats - I can't remember the brand name of it but I wouldn't use anything else.

I don't like those ones like in the second photo where you have to step back about six feet just so you can squat in them. They've never felt safe to me.

I've never understood why anyone would use a rack.

I don't start from the bottom - I use the hooks which place the bar just above knee level and go from there. I only bring the bar down to just below my knee and back up again.

I use deadlifts as a finishing exercise after I've done all my back exercises - I used to do it the other way around, including pulling from the floor, but I was so exhausted after finishing deadlifts this way that my overall upper and mid back development suffered so I turned everything on it's head and have had excellent results since.

Always considered it the "bread and butter" of back moves. If it works for you; great.

I'm all about safety, but I was referring to deads. I prefer them off the floor. Just my opinion.
