Fast & Easy & Portable BBing foods
« on: April 18, 2010, 05:31:33 AM »
I think I need a new few more of these... getting bored of the same old...

Here's my fav:

1 can of water packed tuna, drained, chilled
1/3 or 1/2 of a cup of dry uncooked quick oats
2 tbs of ketchup
1 tbs of light mayo (miracle whip)

Mix well...

258 cals - 30 g protein, 19 g of carbs and 6 g of fat

I cook a sweet potato, mix it with a can of salmon, some olive oil, mustard and pickle relish and eat it lukewarm.  The perfect meal to go.

Try some canned chicken (particulaly the "Great Value" kind from Wal-Mart). You can get two meals out of it, with at least 30 grams of protein each.

I like canned chicken as opposed to tuna...ketchup in your tuna salad? really?

I do a chicken salad thats quick

can of chicken drained
couple table spoons of reduced fat mayo
mustard
relish
grated cheese

damn good and takes about 10 mins to make

Alaskan coho salmon is the best food I've ever eaten from a can.

I often carry venison jerky or sticks (slim jims) with me.
I finally found a butcher that makes decent sticks & doesn’t charge out the ass for them.
Lean, red meat – no prep, you don’t have to keep it cold, etc.

I also like smoked steelhead fish.
I don’t get it that often because I hate fishing, so I rely on relatives to catch & prepare the stuff.

Both of the above are easy to carry, quick to eat, healthy as anything - and the only prep time is putting them inside a bag before leaving the house.

Make sure you get the boneless / skinless - not the "traditional" style.  It's also sold in pouches, like tuna.
