The election of no... NJ taxpayers wake up!

Thirty-four of 39 school budgets in the county were defeated.

School districts spending plans were massacred at the polls during the annual school elections Tuesday as voters used the ballot box to vent their frustrations about higher taxes.

According to unofficial results at press time, only five of 39 school district budgets were passed, a 12 percent approval rate, the lowest this decade and possibly longer.

The only other time this decade that fewer than half the budgets failed was in 2006 when only 17 of 39 budgets won approval.

School officials said the results were not surprising given the large cuts in state aid handed down to them by Gov. Chris Christie both during this school year and next year.

"We lost by a few votes and we were going against the governor and (radio station) 101.5," said Burlington City Business Administrator Craig Wilkie about his district's 480-532 vote defeat.

Stupid!
Now, teachers will get laid off.
Music programs get cut.
Athletic programs will get cut.
More students per classroom.
Teachers getting laid off.

Teachers going to unemployment to collect benefits for being unemployed.
If the budget was passed, Teachers would have conceded some benefits,
but they would have still been employed to do their jobs.
Being unemployed, we, the taxpayers in NJ get to pay them for doing NOTHING!!!

This is REAL UGLY in NJ!!

Not stupid at all.Whats stupid is teachers union employess pay ZERO money into their benefits and have the best benefits on earth. They put in about 40,000 dollars into their retirement funds and come away with over 3 million in retirement perks and income.Chris Christie is the best politician in the country and he has laid it out as it is and the people know he is right.

By the way, music programs are a waste of money. In Indiana we pay about 400 dollars per sport for the kids to play.Just charge the parents for extra activities.

Ah i'm calling bullsh*t on that one.  University professors make over 100K, district superintendents may make over 100K but not an 'art' teacher.  Nice try at lying though 333.

Done.  You'd need to spend 15-20 years with a BA and 15+ with an MA.  Not exactly 'outrageous' at all considering the service and time provided.  You can cry about an art teacher making money but fact is education is a foundation of our society and arts are apart of that.  Imagine if we had no art teachers in our world and no artists what a boring existence that would be.

You come on here and cry about the science and technology adviser talking about not being the best anymore and how this is a disgrace, then when it comes to teacher salaries you say fu*k em and bring up some bullsh*t example about finger painting.  I would say that art teacher probably has put up with more sh*t than anyone would ever like to deal with.  You don't become a teacher to be rich.   Case in point it takes 15 years to make anything resembling what a median lawyer would make.

Good for them, they would have had to provide years of service to get there.  The services they provide are essential and necessary for our country.  As necessary as having a military when you think about it.

Uh yeah it is 333.  You want the link with the tables in it?  Are you now changing the definition of a salary or are you just annoyed because you're example you set was without context and therefore pretty inflammatory.  You figured you'd get people to think teachers start at 100K and all they do it finger paint.

Yep i did call bullsh*t then i looked it up.  I never said i didn't agree with what a teacher makes especially under the circumstances 15+ years of service at least.  What 333 was trying to make me believe was that a random teacher makes 100k to finger paint.  completely out of context.

Oh please why didn't you add that the teacher had to have 15+ years of service to get that?  Did you not know or were you just withholding it to make the statement more inflammatory?

What KC misses,as do all libs do,in CT the teachers make an average salary of 60,000 a year.HOWEVER thats wotrking a 185 day school year. Now,I defy KC to tell me a person working a 185 day year making 65,000 dollars with the best benefits on earth isnt stupid.Any lawyer making money like that working that little?Doctors?Anyone working that few days for that kind of pay?
