K Swiss Classics, anybody ever sport these back in the day?
« on: April 21, 2010, 07:37:18 AM »
I'm listening to Back in Day by Ahmad and he mentioned K Swiss, I remember rocking these shoes, and you wanted to keep them, whiter than white...what shoes you all used rock back in the day? Do not include Jordan's...I'm talking Fila's, Lottos, Diadoras, etc

That's all I ever wear going to the club.  K-Swiss's.  Throw on a blue Nautica shirt, Kaiki shorts and I'm ready to roll.

I rocked them from the days of way back.
I was sponsored by K-Swiss due to my tennis playing.  You didn't even have to be that great to get a sponsorship with them, you just had to be #1 on your high school team and have a USTA regional ranking of a certain level.
The Classics were my casual sport shoe, and the SI-18 were my gamer shoes.
Funny though, I rocked them from about 1991, and got made fun of all of the time for wearing bobos (didn't wear Jordans after I quit hoops in favor of tennis, as I didn't want to be a poser).  Then, they got popular in about 1993, and my boys were like "these are the shit".

ha, well, K Swiss Classics, Reebook Classics, Nike Classics, were all best in white, The Nike's in black, blue, white...

I used to work at Footlocker, and I had a customer that would search for the "pure" whitest Reebok Classics, I'm talking no glue, no spec, no scuff, no dirt on the bottoms,  nothing...I had to mismatch shoes just for her. And people in the Washington DC are very particular to their blue New Balance 574s, At one time, and still believe it is true, the biggest market for New Balance running shoes was the Washington DC area.

I used to rock Filas and Diadoras, that was back in the day, like early 90's, never had a pair of British Knights or Lottos

Parker, Boris Becker used to be sponsored by both Lotto and Diadora, so before I got sponsored, he was my favorite player, so I used to rock those.

I didn't know that...I remember the shirts, for Lotto, I had a sweet pair of light blue and white Diadoras. Then I siwtched up to Air Flight Lites and Air Max, Then Air Haraches, Reebok Pumps (even the tennis pumps)

Parker, I have very narrow feet, so most U.S. companies did not fit me well at all (3 sock minimum to wear--I have a 12 1/2 A width foot).

But the Euro companies have a narrower standard (less fat people), so I always gravitated towards shoes that fit, this meant Diadora (some of the best shoes ever made--their old slogan would interest you "Ferraris for your Feet"--I had a shirt that said that); K-Swiss (SI-18 was one of the longest standing models on the market without a single change) and Lotto (didn't really love these too much for play, as they were very stiff).

Yeah, I noticed that. Nikes and Adidas tend to run half a large bigger, So when I was working at Nike I was a "expert" at converting especially when women wanting the men's versions because they like the colors...usually places like Footlocker use a Mens US size 9 as a display model, if you see something other than a size 9, then that shoe is probably a hot seller, because they had to sell the display model...

Yeah, I think so. Remember Roo's? The shows with the zipper? When I was real young I got my first pair of sneakers from Buster Brown's, they were called Zipps.

Never had anything against homos, but those shoes were for fags.  Nigg*s were insane with the way they'd fight over how WHITE their goddamn shoes were.

I still get angry thinking about it.  Thanks a lot, Parker!

Yeah Big Dub,as soon as I got my pair, I was in the dirt going "Zip, Zip..." real fast with my feet going back and forth.

And I remeber my first and last pair of fish-heads (no name shoes), I was teased for all eternity for those shoes...

I rocked these long before Biggie ever graced us on the stage.
And, for the record, I always liked hip hop, but never tried to dress the "part".
We should start an old school hip hop thread.
This thread makes me think about a show I saw at the Electric Factory, Pharcyde and the Souls of Mischief.

I used to rock the Polka dots, like Kwame, had the Polka dotted shirts and one white and one black Reebok high tops. I had the Bib overalls (one strap  unhooked), and rocked the 45 degree high top, as well as the Gumby.

I then went the spiritual way with the black African medallions and the East Coast Chucks-aka Adidas Sambas
