Who here has had LASIK? Initial appt Monday!

Been waiting a while.  I turned 26 this year and I'm physical enough to not want to deal with glasses.  Plus, I think I look better without them.

Have you had it and what do you think?  Any side effects/pain?

I've heard a common permanent side effect is hazing around lights at night.  Any truth to this?

i wear contacts and sure theyre annoying but what if the machine screws up and u lose sight-im not being funny...imagine being blind and thinking to yourself i could see but couldnt handle the few secs it takes to put contacts in

I gave it a ton of thought and said fuck it. I don't want to risk it. My eyes are very healthy and although I have an astigmatism in one eye and slightly poor vision, I'd rather wear contacts and glasses.

Bought a nice pair of Armani specs for myself and a pair for my fiancé. Sucked to drop such a load of cash but I really don't mind wearing glasses and contacts. Just sucks getting dry eyes if you're smoking weed and wearing contacts

Rarely any of that happens, like any surgery there are risks, but with lasik, don't think anything outragerous happens, chances of that is like winning the lottery. It's safe in general.

but damn it would be nice to have perfect vision again, no amount of money can replace that

I actually just got glasses about 6 months ago. Previously, my eyesight was really well. Guess it went down hill 

I think I look sophisticated, and have received positive feedback from the ladies about them  Plus, I hate the idea about touching my eyeball -- putting on contacts.

And I try to avoid unnecessary surgery, so Lasik is out of the question.

I had it done. Only pain was the eye muscles been sore a couple of days after.  cause they suck you eyes out a little to make the cuts.  Darken room for 2 days. Halos for about 2 or so weeks. Well worth it IMO

My original eyesight was 20/200 and it remains to this day better than 20/20.  In fact, better than 20/15.

I can see the future my eye site is so good and I needed glasses my whole life...like I said best money ever spent...the people knockin it are just scared and haven't did there reseach...

best decision I have made.  Totally worth it.  I was back at work the next day.  The Halo effect you hear about only lasts a few weeks but it's not bad at all and only happens when night driving.

I had it done 5 years back and wish I did it sooner. I often forget that I ever wore glasses or contacts. Best money I've spent on myself.

My ex-wife's dad got it.

He had to wear goggles to bed to make sure he didn't scratch at his eyes for a couple of nights, but afterwards he had 20/20 vision.

Absolutely perfect.

He hasn't complained about anything.

If they make a slight mistake, they can actually go back and lasik you again to fix it apparently.

I think he spent about 3k... He wasn't going to take any chances and go to some place that had buy 1 eye get one free or whatever.

I paid like $1,600..one eye was worse than the other and they had to do it with a different laser...One eye cost me a grand the other six hun...havent had a single problem in all the years since...like I never needed glasses/contacts...

I recently had LASIK, October last year

My vision was very poor with out LASIK with extreme astigmitism.
My right eye is at 150% now my left eye was 100% but still with a touch of astigmitism.
I had my left eye touched up as for the first 2 years all touch ups are free, I had 3 seconds of laser on the touch up.
My left eye is now at 120% with no astigmistism and getting better.
I do aircrtaft spotting with my daughter and can see planes a few seconds before any one else now!!

Straight after the op you will have trouble reading close, problems at night with "star bursts" and "ghosts".
But it gets better all the time and at about the 4 month mark it is all but gone.

Just remember your eyes will be fragile for about a year so if you get into fist fights, do boxing or karate etc it is something to remember.

This is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.

Just make sure you get a GOOD DOCTOR
