My Fox Phoenix ^ | April 30 1020 | Fox News Phoenix

CASA GRANDE - A Pinal County sheriff's deputy is hanging for dear life after he's shot by a group of suspected illegal immigrants Friday.

It happened during a traffic stop on the I-8 west of Casa Grande. The deputy stopped a vehicle containing a group of suspected illegal immigrants when he was shot.

He radioed in to report he was shot with an AK-47. His injuries are life-threatening, but authorities have not been able to find him.

Is this some joke 3. A white deputy harassed a car full of people he just assumed were illegal immigrants. How did he know they were illegal? What reason was there for stopping the car? Was the car speeding? Did the cop witness a crime committed by any one of the occupants in the car?  Was it in a hit and run accident?

Pulling over  a car because you don't like that they are Central or South Americans inside is just another example of discrimination and while I am not one for people being shot for no reason, in this case he brought it on himself. Now this case gets real STINKY REAL QUICK. This deputy claims to have been shot with an AK-47 (unlikely) his injuries are life threatening and yet the  police can not find this deputy. Hmmmmmmm? A deputy calls in to say he has been shot, but didn't tell where he was? In this age of cell phone tracking as well as Lo Jacks in cars that allow tracking no one was able to find him? His injuries are life threatening, but no one has seen him to make that determination? How do they know the injuries are life threatening?

This is more racist propaganda for certain... trying to stir up hostilities between races and turn the whole southwest of america into another Alamo.

I gotta agree with you here. This story just does not add up.

What investigation did this officer do to determine there was reasonable suspicion that they were illegal?
Was this a "visual" inspection? ie: they were hispanic looking so therefore must be illegal? aka racial profiling.

If he was shot with an AK-47 after a routine stop... when did he have time to see it?
Would he not have pulled his gun or taaken cover had he seen that bad boy being rolled out?
And if it happened too quickly for him to see it coming, ...how would he know it was an AK-47?

Sounds real fishy to me. If anything... if it's real... I wouldn't be surprised if he was the sacrificial lamb to give legs to the agenda. Wouldn't be the first time the powers that be were willing to sacrifice men in order to further an agenda. Gulf of Tonkin anyone? Heck we don't even have to go that far back do we?  ;)

What did they do... take his body to give him a proper burial? ...or are they holding him hostage til this legislation is quelled?

Here come the xenophobe rallies demanding action. Americans are so easily manipulated... like lambs to the slaughter  ::)

Why am I not surprised that 333 started this thread?  ::)  Seriously dude... I'm embarrassed for you.

one of the police I saw interviewed said that while he thought this bill is a good idea, there is a chance that illegals are going to be more likely to open fire.

that's why I'd rather see these guys checked at the workplace.  It's harder to hide an Ak-47 while youre at work.

Arizona deputy shot; illegal immigrants suspected

By BOB CHRISTIE
The Associated Press
Saturday, May 1, 2010; 5:59 AM

PHOENIX -- Law officers backed by helicopters hunted gunmen in Arizona's desert early Saturday after a sheriff's deputy was wounded by suspected illegal immigrants believed to be smuggling marijuana, officials said. The violent episode came amid nationwide debate over the state's tough new immigration law.

Pinal County Deputy Louie Puroll was patrolling alone Friday afternoon in a rugged area near Interstate 8, about 50 miles south of Phoenix, when he came upon a band of suspected smugglers, authorities said.

At least one of five suspects opened fire on the 53-year-old lawman, tearing a chunk of skin from just above his left kidney. The officer was found after a frantic hourlong search, Pinal County sheriff's Lt. Tamatha Villar said.

The wound was not serious and Puroll was released Friday night from Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.

State and federal law enforcement agencies deployed helicopters and scores of officers to search a 100 square-mile zone near the Interstate and Arizona 84 for the suspects. The Arizona Republic reported officials said more than one of the choppers came under fire during the manhunt.

The Pinal Sheriff's department told The Associated Press that the hunt into the early morning hours Saturday but no arrests had been made.

The shooting was likely to add fuel to an already fiery national debate sparked last week when Gov. Jan Brewer signed a law cracking down on illegal immigration in the state.

A backlash over the law has surged with civil rights activists, concerned it will lead to racial profiling, calling for protests and a boycott of the state.

The new law's passage came amid increasing anger in Arizona about violence, drug smugglers, illegal immigration drop houses and other problems that some say are caused by poor border security. The issue gained focus a month ago when a southern Arizona rancher was shot and killed by a suspected illegal border crosser.

Arizona politicians called Friday's shooting an outrage and urged the federal government to do more to secure the border with Mexico.

"Regardless of the outcome of tonight's manhunt and investigation, Arizona is now confronted by some of the most vicious and dangerous narco-terror organizations the world has seen," Brewer said in a statement.

Rep. Kirkpatrick, a Democrat whose district includes part of Pinal County, said the violence "should show the rest of the country what we Arizonans have known for too long - the unsecured border poses a very real and very immediate danger."

Puroll, a 15-year department veteran, had been carrying out smuggling interdiction work before finding the bales of marijuana and encountering the five suspected illegal immigrants, two armed with rifles.

"He was out on his routine daily patrol in the area when he encountered a load of marijuana out in the desert. He obviously confronted the individuals and took fire," Villar told The AP.

The Republic quoted Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu as saying about 30 bullets were fired at the deputy, who returned fire with a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun.

The area is a well-known smuggling corridor for drugs and illegal immigrants headed from Mexico to Phoenix and the U.S. interior.

"(Puroll) is a search-and-rescue deputy, so its not uncommon for them to work those areas A) looking for drugs and B) looking for people who need assistance out there," Villar said.

Who wrote this shit? Jerry Brunkheimer or Tom Clancy? The unfolding of this story is so rife with LIES and CONFUSION it is not even funny. A missing deputy with life threatening injuries turns out to be no more than a flesh wound?

The "illegals" shot him with an AK 47 a weapon more of white supremacist groups than anyone else?

SUPPOSEDLY now the illegals are transporting marijuana? WTF.

First we are told an imbecilic white cop stops a car for no reason (less we count because they were possibly Central and/or South Americans), who then LIES and claims it was done because they were ILLEGALS (how is that determined from a moving car?) The "illegals" we are told pull out a AK47 and shoot the idiot deputy...and speed off back to MeHico I guess.

From the initial story at no time was protocol of any type followed to get the license plate number and car description called in BEFORE approaching the car (that is IF the driver did anything illegal) so right away the story stinks.

Now we are told there were five suspects...When was that determination made? Before or after the white deputy was shot and sustained "life threatening injuries"? ha ha

We are now told an hour long search ensued to find this idiotic deputy, using helicopters and cars which supposedly came under fire...What I want to know is how did they know where to search since no one had a clue where this idiotic deputy was? And why would the "suspects" who clearly got away, alert cops to where they are by shooting at helicopters?

Now the story really gets stupid with Puroll now stating he saw two armed suspects (rifles) and found bales of marijuana
Quote
Puroll, a 15-year department veteran, had been carrying out smuggling interdiction work before finding the bales of marijuana and encountering the five suspected illegal immigrants, two armed with rifles.

Um didn't this deputy originally say he stopped a car suspected of being illegals and now claims he encountered a bale of marijuana out in the desert where he confronted the "illegals". If he found a bale of marijuana out in the desert, why would he be stopping a car that is driving by?

When did this deputy take fire on the "illegals"? I thought they shot him with an AK 47 and he sustained life threatening injuries?
Quote
"He was out on his routine daily patrol in the area when he encountered a load of marijuana out in the desert. He obviously confronted the individuals and took fire," Villar told The AP.

Here it is claimed the deputy opened fire with a semi automatic rifle and handgun after 30 rounds were shot at him from the AK47 the "illegals" had. 30 rounds shot at him and only a flesh wound received???
Quote
The Republic quoted Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu as saying about 30 bullets were fired at the deputy, who returned fire with a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun.

Now the poor innocent deputy was supposedly just making sure no needed assistance in this rugged area and making sure no drugs are being transported.
Quote
"(Puroll) is a search-and-rescue deputy, so its not uncommon for them to work those areas A) looking for drugs and B) looking for people who need assistance out there," Villar said.

Like I said this story STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN. A white idiotic deputy obviously transporting drugs himself and trying to cut a deal with some Mexicans and maybe even trying to threaten them found himself on the receiving end of a gun shot. This whole cock and bull story is a cover up to try and keep a clean image of the cops in Arizona from being revealed involved in drug transportation and distribution. GMAFB

Oh brother--  ::)

Im surprised these two simians didn't try to blame the shooting on space aliens ( that were in the country legally with their intergalactic passports that they obtained from GW Bush) or a secret group of assasins working for the Israeli shadow government.

The two of you ( or should I say you, since you're both the same person) should be put to sleep.

Arizona deputy shot by suspected drug trafficker, officials say
By the CNN Wire Staff
April 30, 2010

(CNN) -- A sheriff's deputy in central Arizona was shot Friday afternoon by a suspected drug trafficker, authorities said.

The Pinal County deputy, who was not immediately identified, contacted authorities after being wounded in the desert, saying he had been shot by an illegal immigrant with an AK-47, said Lt. Tammy Villar, a sheriff's spokeswoman.

The deputy radioed that he had encountered five men, some wielding long guns and handguns, and said they were carrying a large amount of marijuana.

At one point the deputy lost radio contact with authorities, leading to a search by foot and by air for him and the shooter, according to CNN affiliate KNXV. Video from the scene shows that the deputy was located while sitting in desert brush, surrounded by cactus. He was able to walk to a helicopter that airlifted him to a hospital.

A spokeswoman at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center confirmed that the deputy was being treated there Friday evening. He was in good condition with stable vital signs, conscious and comfortable, she said.

KNXV: Deputy stopped five suspects
The deputy was shot in the left abdomen and suffered a superficial wound, law enforcement sources said.

The search for the shooter continued into the evening.

The shooting comes amid a national debate over Arizona's tough new immigration law, which allows police to demand proof of legal residency. Arizona lawmakers say the law is needed because the federal government has failed to enforce border security with Mexico, allowing more than 450,000 illegal immigrants to move into the state.

Pinal County is between Phoenix and Tucson and has been described as a key transit point for illegal immigrants and drug traffickers. Sheriff Paul Babeu said an estimated 80 percent of illegal immigrants pass through his county along the way to other locations.

Earlier this week, a CNN crew spent 12 hours on patrol with Pinal County deputies. In that time, the deputies captured more than 50 suspected illegal immigrants and about 2,000 pounds of marijuana.

Deputies in the department routinely patrol for illegal immigrants and smugglers, and it is not uncommon for them to be in the field alone, officials said. It was not immediately clear what led the deputy to engage with the shooter Friday.

The shooting is sure to heat up the debate around the new Arizona law. Critics say the law is unconstitutional and will lead to racial profiling, which is illegal. But Republican Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and others who support the law say it does not involve profiling or other illegal acts and will cut down on illegal immigration.

"Frankly this is just a very horrible story, but we should not generalize," Alfonso Aguilar, former chief of the U.S. Citizenship Office, told CNN's Rick Sanchez when news of Friday's shooting broke. "We should focus on the criminality of the drug traffickers ... not scapegoat undocumented immigrants who do not pose any threat to society."

Brewer on Friday signed a bill that makes changes to the immigration law, saying the changes will ease concerns about racial profiling.

The law, which will go into effect in 90 days, has already drawn at least two lawsuits and condemnation from the Mexican government and other Latin American nations. Prominent entertainers, including Shakira and Linda Ronstadt, also have spoken against the law. Some critics are calling for a boycott of Arizona, urging tourists to stay away and that no one do business with companies in the state.

So essentially, this is not an illegal immigration story... so much as it is a drug smuggling story.

Since no one has been apprehended, it would be premature to assume these were illegal aliens.

John Delorean was an American citizen, as was Freeway Ricky.

This is a drug smuggling story, and one can expect to be shot when you come across drug smugglers.

Quick question tho... how does one get a superficial wound from an AK-47?

Chaos and Double Bee,

It's obviously our fault for having such a great country.

Given enough time they'll turn America into a poophole, too. Between what they steal through legislation and illegally entering the country there won't be anything left of the dream for most of us or our kids.
