I am a legal immigrant in USA. I have paid close to $20,000 over the past 10 years in legal and government fees to get myself to the point where I am a permanent resident. I have worked and paid taxes during this time and contributed to social security. I am all for the Arizona law that was recently made public.If my status / identity was questioned because of my accent I would not care and provide my proof as requestred. I welcome this because I had to pay my way into the system. Why should an illegal immigrant be given a free pass when I had to pay dearly for it. The only people really that will be inconvenienced by this law are illegal and legal immigrants. I am sure a lot of other legal immigrants would feel the same way I do. So really only the illegals won't like it which sucks but hey you broke the law.Maybe cops will profile Hispanics in the process - but you know what the majority of illegal immigrants are hispanic so too bad. The legal hispanic immigrant should feel the same way I do about prooving identity with a clear consience.

How it started is a non-factor. Hundreds of years after it started, we made laws and those laws need to be enforced, if the "Federal" gov can't or won't enforce them, then every state should have the right to enforce them.It's the same way the civil war started, it's all about states rights.
