mmm don't think it's true bro... have you seen the sweet piece of arse he's been with for the last year or so?

I remember posts by him talking about taking dicks up his ass and how it feels like a deep tissue massage or something along those lines, if he's not fully fruity then he's at least bi, heed my words..guard your rear.

Ripon...

and I'm prolly the oldest.
why do you train at that tiny little inshape in modesto??  you should come to manteca to train, come join california total fitness where i workout. its like 20 a month.
nice gym, its only busy around 5-7 weekdays, everything you could want inside.

If you are all getting together count me in.
yeah dude come on down! (or "Up" lol

I'd buy a few rounds if I ran into ya'll in Ripon, but isn't that town over the horizon at earth's edge. I've lived and almost died a few times in Northern Cal but never heard of Ripon.

They got a bar there or do ya gotta brew your own???

ripon.. small town, mostly well-off, private schooled, "hoity toity" conservatives...   dont  drive 26mmph in a 25 cuz your bout to have 3 squad cars with their lights on parked behind you if you do that...

Tbombz, I was running the Ripon Athletic for a few years. I had clientele from 4 AM to closing. I did quite well, but managing and training wasn't my thing.

I went and talked to Ken in Manteca and was going to transfer my clientele over. I was pretty impressed with his gym. I just ended up sick of the 24/7 training/management thing and I think that's what he was looking for. I have a couple of friends who work out there and he seems to have found a good partner to run the place.

Also, me and my GF joined his gym for a year during the (would be) transition.

I fell into the Sisk gym because I wanted to get away from everyone for awhile. Now it seems to be littered with MMA wanna-beat-ur-ass types. As a matter of fact, a trainer beat the shit out of a guy over a jealous GF the other night and then all of his friends bum-rushed the dude.

I've got nothing against Cal Fit, I work in Manteca and prefer to head toward Motown from Ripon. And you are right about Ripon. On weekends they roll up the carpet and shut the doors.

Interesting thread here because some retired family members just moved to Manteca and I had to look it up on a map to see where the hell it was.

I THINK we used to drive through Manteca in order to get to Ca Hwy 99 from the Bay Area which was once the short-cut to Los Angeles.

We also used that route to get to Yosemite if memory serves me right.

Has it slowed down there a bit since Hwy 5 opened? And is that area still growing crops? Almonds I think.

How would one of those small towns handle a GetBig Convention one of these days?

Thanks for the edumakation.

I have to give full respect to tbombz.  We were pretty rough on him in the SQUAD's heyday....I remember Dave always posting the bike pic.....and he has obviously put in some serious work at the gym.

Also, he likes to push buttons and joke around on here, so he seems like the type of guy who could get along with almost anybody, IRL.

Okay, enough of this......I feel my test levels dropping.  ;D

Ive been working out at cali fitness since before Ken owned the place. He bought it in the summer of 06 i believe. i know he had it for sure by spring 07.  his "partner" is my buddy steve. Iranian dude who has been working at the gym since before Ken owned it, back when it was owned by some arab friends of steve's. anytime you want to come train ill get you in for free.

if your gonna workout in modesto the in shape on mchenry by orangeburg is pretty nice. but the golds on dale is awesome, thats where ifbb pro ad cherry trains.

we have a street running through manteca called "yosemite" and if you stay on it for about 45 minutes youll arrive at the "entrance" to the park (about 30 minute drive from there i think)...   mostly almonds!  ripon is like the almond capitol of the planet. a good family friend and coworker of my mother's owns the biggest almond, apple, cherry farm in the area, the oldest too. rich people sell fruit all the way to japan and everywhere in between.

Thanks, Bombz, (Yosemite Street) I think that was the route we used to take to the Park.

When I first got a job at Camp Curry it was my job to empty the garbage after we closed up late at night. I packed it all up and commenced to walk outside with a couple of bags of garbage over my shoulder and noticed the whole night crew following me and watching closely, but I had no idea what was up.

So I start to load the garbage in the dumpster and it was pitch black with only a part of the moon shining down but they all just stood about 20 yards away just watching me dump that damn garbage.

That's when I felt some heat on my neck and a very loud "GRUNT" and I turned around to see BRUNO no further than a foot or two behind my back just waiting till I unloaded all that garbage so that he could start his evening meal.

I jumped and almost shit my pants. I'd never seen a bear outside of a cage before and here was BRUNO standing and grunting right in back of me while the whole damn night shift went into hysterics laughing at this new dupe on his first night on the job.

A couple of weeks later we did the same thing to the new kid and I was elevated to checking ID's and serving beer, with explicit instructions to NOT serve beer to the Indians who lived up the road apiece.

One night a real Yosemite Indian came in and asked me if I'd give him a beer cause he was real thirsty and had no money.

I said, "I can't!", but he said "Please", so I gave him a pitcher of beer and asked him to go outside someplace and drink it or else I would get in trouble.

So he said, "OK, Kimosabe!" and took his beer outside.

A half hour later he came in and asked for one more but I told him I could not give him any more.

ANd then he picked up one of the smaller tables and threw it through the plate glass window overlooking the center while yelling some Indian war-hoops.

The next day I was making do-nuts!

He came back to say he was sorry and asked for a do-nut. But I didn't give him one, so he just left.

Yea, I guess we did use to ride up that Yosemite street right into the park. Thanks for the memory, Bombz.

Wow! I remember back when it was Sam's fitness (or something like that)-- Ive also seen Steve. Pretty sure he drives a red Vette...

Also, I have full access to all the ISC's, I just prefer the Sisk for the quick drive and no big prime-time gatherings. Ed Corney also works out at Golds and trains clientele there. I raced him home today from Pelandale and Dale at about 4 PM. He drives a black C4 Vette with personalized plates and I have a black C5Z-- I couldn't catch the bastard B4 Ripon, so I bailed at Austin after I caught him...

I'll catch up with you guys soon. I bet we know a shitload of the same peeps. No name-dropping out here tho..

If I'm not mistaken, Ed Corney lives in Manteca and trains at Golds in Modesto.

If you guys want to invite him to your function, I'll give him a call or you can simply invite him yourselves if you contact him at Golds.

Any other old timers in you area who I might know?

Would you all consider a GetBig get together (lunch) at the Cafe in the Orleans casino?

We had an impromptu gathering there when a group of us were having lunch and everyone kept on stopping  by to say "Howdy" until it got to be quite a crowd and we were eventually asked to give up the tables we had taken over.

It was a great gathering of old timers (Pete Grymkowski and Keith) and many others who have been around for the past 50+ years, and the 'new kids on the block' such as Potter and James Flex Lewis and quite a number of others who will soon be making a name in the game.

We all enjoyed that unplanned gathering and you guys might have enough old timers and newbees in your area to have a similar and  interesting get-together over a few bru-skis.

Just a thought.

Alex, I think you may be mistaken.

Ed used to live in Fremont but now resides in Manteca. In fact his good friend (Wayne Anderson who used to train with Ed at Bob's Gym in Fremont) left LV this afternoon to pay him a visit on his way to Hawaii.

I mention Wayne because you might also know him

Are you familiar with Bob's Gym .... probably closed down years ago.

This was like 2004 stunt... so you're right... Still ed was awesome in the gym; in his 70's and dumbbell pressing his weight for reps.

Yea, Alex, I've known Ed forever and still see him each year at the O Expo. Wayne and I were with him when he got his pro card.

Under another topic you got a lamp post going through your head but my main question is ... Why do you 'got' so many monitors?

Alex, I am a professional Know-it-all but I do appreciate anyone who corrects or modifies my 'knowingness'. What I am trying to say is that maybe Ed does still live in Fremont and is only visiting his sister in Manteca for a while.

But I think he is in Manteca permanently now because he does train in Modesto Golds which I assume is close to Manteca.

Do you guyz in the valley ever see Mike Dayton or have any memory of MUS-L-ON? Gary Leonard or John Corvello? Did ya ever meet Phil Hernon when he was still a kid living further south?

Those were the muscleheads I knew or associated with from the 'valley' in years gone by.

Your know it all (but still somewhat stupid) friend .... Stunt

Bomz, Ed's a great guy! Say "Hi" to him next time. He'll appreciate it unless he's in the middle of a squat or heavy bench.

Not sure if his mom is still alive but I did meet her a few times in Hawaii, but I don't think I ever met his sister who has the house in your area.

Are you shy when it comes time to meet the Pros or the old timers such as Ed?

A family member now resides in your area ... an exceptional musclehead 'kid' who was with Cirque in LV for a good long while. I sent him your last picture and told him to give you a scare if he ever runs into you. If you ever do meet him you'll be laughing for a long time after cause he is a real bodybuilding comic.

He worked with ARNOLD as a gay guy in Eraser and had Arnold in a constant state of laughter during that day's shoot.

If you find yourself thrown three feet into the air, you met him! That's an old stunt he did in Cirque for a few years. He is also an excellent wall climber which is another story under another topic. But if you ever see a musclehead 'sitting' in the high cornor of a 8 foot wall, say "Hello!" cause that's him.

Oh yeah.. Ken and I still stay in (indirect) contact. I still send people his way. I had a membership to his place year before last. Also, I just talked to Ed Corney at the Chevron in Ripon off of Jacktone. He gave me his card and his number. His business card has his Manteca addy and phone number.

There are important secrets to be gleaned from this thread if you perform a carefully directed search.
