A notorious Australian criminal has been buried in a gold coffiin that was based on the design used for Michael Jackson's funeral.
Triple murderer Carl Williams was buried on April 30, wearing his favourite pair of jeans, inside the $50,000 Aus (£30,000) gold-plated coffin.
A convicted drug trafficker, Williams died on April 19 after suffering cardiac arrest after being attacked by another inmate in jail.
Williams had been bashed with a part taken from an exercise bike in Barwon Prison, where he was serving a life sentence for the three murders.
Police officers kept watch on the Friday service at St Therese's Catholic Church in Essendon as a mob of spectators watched mourners arrived.
Williams' ex-wife Roberta, the mother of his daughter Dhakota, now nine, arrived for the service at in a black stretch Hummer limousine.
The brick church was the same place of worship where Dhakota was christened, where his mother was mourned and where two gangland rivals were laid to rest.
Roberta Williams broke down emotionally at the start of the service when Tina Turner's song Simply The Best was played.
She gave an eulogy telling mourners how the mobster treated her three children from a previous relationship as his own.
"You gave me self-belief and confidence when it had been ripped away years before," she said.
"You didn't love Dhakota any more or less than my other three children."
Dhakota was spotted carrying a framed photo of her with her father as eight pallbearers struggled to take the casket out of the church.
Her mother was then seen to hold the hand of George Williams, the father of the dead mobster, as his body was placed inside a Mercedes hearse.
The funeral cortege then travelled to Keilor cemetery where about 80 mourners applauded as Dhakota threw a favourite dummy on top of the casket.
According to Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper, as people drifted off to cars or the nearby wake, Roberta Williams stood at the end of her ex-husband's grave, before placing a single white rose on the nearby grave of hitman "Benji" Veniamin.
Bizarrely, however, a tattooed impersonator of local underworld matriarch Judy Moran, whose husband Lewis and son Jason were killed on Carl Williams' orders, also turned up for the funeral with a huge urn in a trolley.
