I guess I will have to ask my roommate how to use it.  Its a bamboo thing with two levels I dunno.  I think maybe you just cover the food with it and it does its thing on the stove.

What do you guys steam?  Chicken and veggies Id guess?

Bonus whats a good way to cook yams/sweet potatoes ?

i generally use my pot and a metal collander.  simple and clean. Generally only steam veggies and fish.  not a fan of steamed chicken.  Sweet potatoes and yams i like to bake.  alothough if you slice them and give them a light boil, then sautee them in a little oil/butter mix it's nice.

I steam veggies, especially frozen.  Fresh, I like to roast.  Never steam meat - blah

Sweet potatoes nuke easy - just make sure to poke them a few times first.  They're also good cut up in chunks and roasted with some olive oil.

Roast things at about 450 for about 20 - 25 minutes.
