Mens Suit Question
« on: May 04, 2010, 06:36:32 PM »
Can I have an old suit that's way to big (pants and jacket) modified to fit me, or would replacing it be more cost efficient?  ???

The crotch is too long now, waist is too big, and the jacket is lose in the midsection now.  :o

Is there something special about this old suit? If not, just buy a new one, and keep the old one for the off season. ;D

Depends on the quality of the cut and the fabric. Usually possible to fix it up if it's not too bad.

When you buy your next suit, look for a custom tailor. If you're in or near NY, PM me for a referral.

Depends on the cost of the original suit...if it's nothing special, then I agree...ditch it.

If it's a expensive suit, then there is no reason to waste money...

My dad had this beautiful Christian Dior suit that he never wore anymore and asked if I wanted it.

Thing is my dad is fat, huge waist so the jacket was loose in some areas, and the pants were too big, but I took it to tailor and he literally performed magic on it, and it fit me sooooo well, I couldn't believe it was the same suit, fit as if it was made for me!

Get it tailored!

Have you waxed your car lately Eyeball, sounds like some good material for that task and then buy a cheap suit from Goodwill with an elastic waistband losing weight will cost you.

take it to the korean tailor

I do this all the time if your gonna buy a new suit:

55R coat - big & tall style, dont really fck with it cause it might rip when I yoke someone up

20neck 35/36 XXXXL TALL - shirts from big & tall - I put these on and the korean pins em then tailors it - majik

XL ties - full Windsor knots

I buy 40waist pants with a 32 inseam and get the waist taken in to 38 but I am a 36 - ass gets to bunched up when its a 36 plus rip factor comes into play

shoes I get 14 from big & tall and put some dr schoalls in them bitches

----now most of my stuff is str8 off the rack at big & tall then I get it taken in in the 'right spots' but I am 6' about 265lbs now - neck and shoulders mess alot of shit up

What a tight mother fucker you are, fork out the cash and buy a new suit.

Doesnt have to be pricey.

Oh and people who spend $700 + on suits give off a vibe of insecurities

Getbiggers only buy new suits as their biceps are always bulging out of suits 2 months after they buy them.

Invest in a high quality suit once, and avoid buying cheaper quality products over and over. $700.00 is entry level (which is fine for your average Joe) when it comes to high quality suits, sport coats and trousers. As with most things, with suits, you get what you pay for.

You know what is insecure? A man who is concerned with how much money another man spends on his clothing. Sounds like you've got some jealousy issues. That or your staring at men all the time, wondering how much they paid for their trousers, ha-ha.

To the op: I'd invest in a new suit. Buy something of high qualiuty and have it tailored. Go with a medium break on the pant length. If you purchase a fine suit, it will never go out of style, and it will last you forever.

Consider a Zenga.
