Is that the feeling you get right after you stop?

No its the feeling during, the endorphins, the feeling of freedom you feel, nothing like it.

Everyone hates it at first, Id say when you can run around 4 miles easily enough is when you start to really enjoy it.

Went on 5 or 6 miles runs in the military and just never got over "this sucks" feeling.....but maybe I just don't get the endorphin release.  :-\

I think a big part of it has to be that your doing it of your own choosing and an enviroment you picked also.

Could be right.  From playing sports growing up, running just to run, was usually punishment as in "get a lap" or running suicides in basketball...haha....and of course the running in the military at 5am was shit....

The military has an amazing ability to suck the fun out of all activities.

haha, ROFL....that is a FACT!  Running obstacle courses can be a fun way to stay in shape, but not the military way.  Same with organized PT....it was always nothing but a pain in the ass.

Now if they threw iin some fine hoes on the courses to chase it would be worth it.

Define running. Most people jog slowly, like 5 mph. Some are actually walking and pretending they are running. 6 - 8 mph is a moderate pace (10 min - 7.5 min mile). That's still a jog though.  A run is like 10 - 12 mph (6  - 5 min miles). A sprint is over 12 IMO.

Jogging, best way to burn off muscle, since not working out.
I know a guy who used to complain about not putting on size and that he ate so much, next thing I know, I see him doing laps around the track.
People are clueless. ;)
Sprints are another story.

Ha, my personal favourite was being told by the PTI that we were going to have a "chilled out" swim for morning PT... only to find myself half an hour later dressed in fatigues, treading water in the deep end whilst passing rubber rifles and weight plates above our heads.

They eventually stopped trying to drown us and made us do dips in and out of the pool for twenty minutes, instead.

Character building.

I see running as punishment.  And I love how runners always say "I feel so great after I finish...."  Well, of course you do, you aren't running anymore.   ;D
