The Obamacare Anger Bump.... has disappeared!

Republican Advantage in 2010 Voting Enthusiasm Shrinks

Wise getbiggers said the fervor was peaking too soon... now we have poll data to show that a full TEN PERCENT of republicans are no longer "very enthusiastic" about voting in the 2010 elections - in just ONE MONTH.

Republicans aren't as mad now, as they were a month ago.   They got pissed off when healthcare passed - Passed on March 23, took a week to peak anger- and a month later, they're right back to where they were before the bill passed.  A month.  That's how long it took for them to forget it.

I'll jump. Gee 240 this is ur highly researched evidence that Obama is on his way back up.  10% of Repubs aren't as fired up? I'm sure that will drop even further as the summer months roll on and people are doing other things. Once we hit late Aug and the major campaining starts...people will get fired up. Further do u actually read anything beyond headlines. The dems are hemoraging safe seats to retirements and the Repubs are going to make runs at them as well. Then we have the bomb and oil spill. The left is bashing Obama for his slow reaction and the Right is bashing him to continue to drill...neither side will have a hard issue until a climate bill iks developed and people watch what it will do to their pocket book. If the bomb plot is tied to the Taliban or overseas help people on both sides will re evaluate current operations around the world. Barry is weak...he's seen as weak...this won't help. Since you offer nothing but a number with even you own opinion....I'd say as usual ur bs is weak.

yes those are all factors which will hurt obama.

This thread was about the statement I made that in a month, angry repubs will be back to normal again, and people said i was crazy.  A month later, healthcare anger seems to have subsided.

Of course dems will get their clocks cleaned in November, no debating that.  I'm just saying some of that anger from a month ago is gone now.

Your silence is deafening regarding this point:
"A poll came out today that said barry has 39% approval for re-election.  Nice try kneepadding though."

Let's wait and see how those November elections turn out. If Republicans gain the majority in the House of Representatives and pick up seats in the Senate, then this thread was a waste of time by 240.

I thought the stim bill was needed in order to keep unemployment at or under 8%. Wasn't the messiah supposed to have all the answers needed to solve all the economic problems? That health care package is going to do wonders to this struggling economy. Looks like in time, Greece won't be the only country  in need of a bail out.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. added 290,000 jobs to nonfarm payrolls in April, but unemployment as a whole rose to 9.9 percent as 805,000 people began returning to look for positions in the workforce.

The hiring of 66,000 temporary government workers to conduct the census helped overall payroll growth last month. However, private employers boosted figures by adding a surprisingly strong 231,000 positions last month, the Labor Department reported Friday.

The numbers are the biggest growth since March 2006, and the White House noted that revised numbers for February and March added an additional 120,000 jobs.

Many economists have predicted the unemployment rate would rise as people come back into the labor force. The jobless rate hit 10.1 percent in October, a 26-year high.

All told, 15.3 million people were out of work in April.

Counting people who have given up looking for work and part-timers who would prefer to be working full time, the so-called underemployment rate rose to 17.1 in April. That shows just how difficult it is to get work

House Republican Whip Eric Cantor said it's always a good thing to see positive gains, but Washington's spending could make it impossible to sustain growth.

"Out-of-control spending in Washington has produced a Mount Everest of debt that we are asking future generations to climb. Even if the economy added 250,000 jobs every month, it would take nearly five years to get back to full employment. Five years is too long," Cantor said.

Cantor argued that a massive health care program instituted by the federal government will make it more difficult for employers to increase hires.

Economists estimate that the economy would need to grow at an annual rate of 6 percent to 8 percent a quarter for a major reduction in unemployment rates. The economic pace was 3.2 percent in the first three months of this year.

President Obama will be joined by his Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, among others on his economic team, when he comments on the latest unemployment numbers Friday morning.

Job gains in April were widespread. Manufacturers, construction companies, retailers, professional and business services, education and health services, leisure and hospitality and government all showed gains. Among the weak spots: transportation and warehousing, and information companies, which all all cut jobs last month.

The improvements, however, were taking place before the stock market plunged this week on concerns that the European debt crisis could spread. There are fears the crisis could make companies more cautious about hiring in the future, economists warned..

Hiring isn't expected to be robust enough anytime soon to lower the unemployment rate much. Economists think it will remain above 9 percent by the November midterm elections. That could make Democratic and Republican incumbents in Congress vulnerable.

Europe's debt crisis will probably dampen demand for U.S. exports. And the debt crisis may continue to weigh on markets. Thursday's stock market plunge -- the Dow Jones industrial average dropped nearly 1,000 points before recovering two-thirds of its losses -- introduced fresh uncertainties.

High unemployment and sluggish wage gains are likely to prevent consumers from going on spending sprees any time soon. Small businesses, which usually help drive job creation during recoveries, are having trouble getting loans. That tight credit is crimping their ability to expand operations and hire.

Americans aren't very optimistic either, according to the Associated Press-GfK Poll of April 7-12, which showed just 21 percent of Americans say the economy in good condition.

Yeah, and the reason why soo many democrats are dropping out from their re-election bids is because they want to sell vaccum cleaners for a living??
The truth will be in Nov.

I see.  A poll.  This poll you mention is about 2012.  And this thread is about the nov 2010 voter passion.  Subject-change much? lol...

It's cool.  I'm baffled too.  I have no clue how obama has bounced back to 50% on Gallup approval rating, after obamacare passed.

We can argue this until the cows come home... (did I really write that?) But the fact of the matter are some 70% of the country does not like the HC bill, and some 70% of the country agree with AZ immigration policies. This will have a huge effect in Nov. That is if the republicans can find their feet and give us someone to vote for.
Now, all that could go away if for some reason a vast amount of jobs come back and the unemployment rate goes down to say 6% or so. I will be honest. This will boost Obama hugely. But there is truly NOTHING to suggest he is doing anything tanglible to effect the jobless rately in a positive direction. All independent economists state he truly has no idea about business. Makes sense to me, with cap and trade...

I have to question those numbers...

70% hates obamacare, 70% loves the AZ bill.

These polls were taken immediately after the bills passed, when the people of american didn't know a lot about it.  I'm betting if you took either poll today, those numbers have dropped a great deal.

It's going to come back in full force pretty soon.

Once major corporations do the number crunching, many of them are going to cut health insurance and pay the penalty.

Their "numbers guys" are going to work through the numbers and realize that much of what HR does each day is deal with dipshits complaining that their tummy tuck isn't covered by insurance.

So, they're going to figure out that they can just pay the penalty, raise the price for their products by a penny to cover that penalty fee, cut HR staff hours, replace those staff hours with production workers, which is going to increase production enough to cut their production costs by two pennies, and come out on top by making an extra cent for every single product purchase......all while not having to deal with all the health care bullshit.

I dunno tho.... healthcare was THE biggest issue of his presidency.  FOX ran a year-long anti-obamacare campaign.  They painted him as s socialist.

And just 4 weeks later, 20% of motivated repub voters are no longer motivated.  That's pretty shocking.

???

These are gallup numbers.  not tv.

I predicted, right after obamacare passed and people here said this enthusiasm would carry til nov, that it would not.  I predicted in a month, people would care more about the american idol season finale.

and a month later, voila... back to pre-obamacare numbers.  This isn't about MSNBC, although if attacking them helps you to divert the 20% drop in repub voter enthusiam in a month, go for it.
