I was on my laptop here and I heard an insect noise...and I looked up and there is a bee flying around bumping into my ceiling light

One trick that works with insects at night is turning the light on in one room and turning it off in another. The flying insect invariably moves from the dark area to the lit area. Could do this until you get it out into the corridor - problem solved. I do this with moths all the time.

Simple solution to your problem. Get an aerosol can (hairspray works great) and a bic lighter.

Light lighter, hold in front of can, aim at bee, spray can,................................ problem solved.
