My grandpa had one too. If he wasn't wearing a Yankees cap it was the fedora. Too bad that generation that wore them is dying off...

I always wear them in the summer, just because it keeps the rays off my neck and face. Great for shade.

I think one with a snap brim like the ones I linked are appropriate, like in clubs

The United States was over 90% White at that time.  You can't have racism where there is only one race and no one to be racist towards.  Racism can by definition only exist in multiracial societies.

I'm not sure that you are correct in those numbers. And back in the 1850s-1860's, blacks in some areas outnumbered whites. Remember  Slavery was system of  free labor, and any business tends to have more laborers than the people who run it. Take a look at that car, that is a 1930s to early 1940s car--- you are then looking at Jim Crow Laws, lynchings and such, you might want to Read some of Richard Wright's earlier works (like Black Boy) which describe the era, for black as that time. You know, like eating in the back, after everybody else has finished.
Youeally need to do you research on our Laws and social morays at the time.

By the way, I am really feeling

Well, whites also hated each other like Italians, Germans, and the Irish in the US during those times so yes, "hate," was strong among the whites though.

Well, I'm bald (damn), and I'm trying a new look. I have a retirement party for my aunt to go to.
I've been wanting to get some fedoras like the ones I pictured.

I am known for my baseball caps (Yeah, I curve the brim), and my favorite that I used to change my oil with is a 10 yr old brown baseball cap that has a severe worn bill, oils stains, rips

If you can pull off wearing a fedora, you don't feel the need to wear a fedora.
Get a mustard yellow zoot suit instead.
