Dogfighting is a southern thing, not just a redneck thing in these times.  That's what Vick meant, it is prevalent still with southern people period.  It isn't a black or white thing, people still raise pitbulls to fight, and white people raise roosters to fight as well.  It is just a southern thing in general.

Some of you unfortunately haven't been to the backwoods south to see these things.  It's freaking sad...the one thing Parker had right is that the old school guys truly love the dogs and roosters, people my age and a little older just think it is "cool".  Pretty sad really.

I've never heard of dog fighting around here but cock(rooster) fighting is prevalent in the South by all races. Most of the "wanna be" badasses own a pit bull or two, so they probably fight them too and I've just never heard about it. My friend from the Dominican Republic says they fight dogs all the time around there, it's a part of their culture.

I guess we both are right. More of a southern 'neck thing that I had noticed and from history. I did notice that Southerns who like to go hunting regardless of being a 'neck or not had hunting dogs. People near my family had them---in rural VA.
In England, where most of the fighting dogs were bred before coming to the States were fought by the working and less desirable classes, for what---money.

I know that both black and white in the South used to breed roosters for cockfighting, but it started being associated with the black slaves, when it was more universal than that.

And this video is not disturbing at all... this is where I hate these double faced people. Organized agreed upon violence is ok, but when it happends out from the corner it's bad and disturbing. Hypocrisy = makes me pissed.

Cool huh?  Organized violence...people agree to fight....the loser of a boxing/mma match isnt put to sleep.  In an MMA fight the fight is stopped due to a cut....you dont see one fighter clamping down on another fighters neck in order to kill them.  Would love to see how you would fair against a pit attacking you....make you dont get pissed at the owner because the dog is challenging you to a fight.

1. They don't need to be trained to fight, guys like vick and his so called business partners are nothing but a bunch of idots that thought dog fighting was cool. Real game dogs don't need anything but food and water and before a fight you condition the animal to make sure it's got enough wind.

2. People use steroids true, but i can promise you that any dog that's worth talking about in the last 40 years (since 1980) has not needed steroids. Dogs get infections from fights and some need medical attention, but steroids aren't needed to make game dogs fight. As for dremmels like i said in the first post these guys are idots !! dremmels weaken a dogs teeth and dogs need their teeth.

The reason i'm posting this is for one reason and one reason only. I've seen more game dogs in my life than most people have seen dogs in general and have known my fair share of true dogmen, what society has today is not the same as it was 40-50 years ago in regards to these animals. You think vick and his douche bag friends truly cared about these animals...of coarse not, is it because vick needed the money...of coarse not. They thought it was cool plain and simple, same reason every rap video out there has some wanna be gangster walking with a 100lb bully (not pitbull) in it. I've had every kind of dog you can imagine and i can tell you this. I don't care how much a dog weighs, how strong it is or how much police training it has had a true game bred dog will destroy anything you put in front of it period !! no drimmels, no steroids, no training just food and water.
