Is the economy RECOVERING?
« on: May 09, 2010, 10:21:20 PM »
Job losses have supposedly stopped - and we're adding 200k to 300k new private sector jobs to America each month.

What do you see around you?  Are companies investing more $ and hiring more people?  Are your clients getting more active?  Or is it the same/getting worse?

We're talking REAL WORLD - What do you see in your own business interactions.  Are things getting better?

Real world (keep in mind this is in Europe, but not that there's too much difference):

- my father's small business can't get credit, even though they are still hanging on in sales.

- my employer,a large multinational: focusing on cost reduction, downsizing offices, more outsourcing. On the upside: heads are FINALLY rolling for gross mismanagement of IT projects. :D

I think the global crisis has bottomed out since the credit issue in greece. I don't think it'll get worse but it may take a while to get better in the west However America will never fully recover in this decade there are too many issues with debt, two ongoing wars, overvalued realstate, energy shortages, and the chinese edging you out globally. the job market may get better but america won't see economic growth other than through population increase.

I'm a positive pessimist when it comes to our present economic situation and the hopes for recovery.

I don't think we've come anywhere near to 'bottoming out' just yet and I think we'll have more of the same (or worse) for the next three to five years.

And in the case of Las Vegas, it's gonna take many years longer before we get back to the good old days we all lived through 4 years ago.

I hope I'm wrong, but 20 years from now Las Vegans will still be hoping for a semi-complete recovery. But the big problem then will be, "Where the hell are we going to get the water to acommodate the locals and all these weekend tourists ad what do we do with these boarded up hotel/casinos?"
