Lisen, Lebron is a GREAT player, can be one of the best ever, BUT, he has to learn to be clutch. Its one thing to drop 40 on the Clippers and another to beat the Celtics. If I was in charge, i'd trade Mo for Tony Parker, try and get either Amare or Dirk (if they opt out) Resign Z to a mid level exception deal and see if you can get another shooter for JJ Hickson.

The problem is there are way too many damn incomplete players. Like you said about JJ, most of these dudes need to get their heads in the game. I think that their should be a dock in pay if you don't produce, or a mandatory benching from the higher ups. If you don't produce to your abilitity on a consistent basis, you will be
bench or suspended without pay. Gauranteed the quality of play will shoot right up. This simplifies things so that the convoluted trades, free agents, blah, blah becomes nol and void. If this is mandatory league wide, mofos

G, Nike has been looking for the next Jordan since Harold Miner (baby Jordan) and Grant Hill, from anybody from the ACC to the UNC (Ed Cota, Jamison, etc). They had Kobe, they were trying to market Lebron, but he has neither the mystique nor the drive of Jordan and their biggest disappointment was Jason Williams, they just knew he was going to produce. Coming out of high school, kids should be required to stay in school at least until they are 20. It would make college basketball better and add a level of maturity to the kids coming out. Can you imagine how good Kentucky would be if there freshman class were around until they were juinors?

Which goes back to one of the reasons why Coach K recruits certain players. The school somewhat dictates his player are going to be. He hates one and done players, so he will recruit players who may not be the best, but hey it's Duke and you get a excellent education. Most stay for 4 yrs. And  he has no "me,me" prima donnas, so his teams work great together. But, most when they go on to the NBA aren't that great, because they were never great talent to begin with.

yeah, as much as I used to dislike him for his arrogance... Kobe was drafted 17th or 18th in the draft, and didn't have all the early love that LeBron got, despite his offenseive skills.

He won 4 rings - one without Shaq - and looks impossible to beat this year and maybe for the next three years after that.  He stayed in LA when his ego could have led him to leave for NYC.  And they built a team to win.

Lebron needs a real coach (Phil jackson would be perfect), and he needs some support.  Get him Wade or Parker, and a big man, and let him grow from the ego hit he's feeling now.

The LeBron hype does make me laugh.  First they call him the best player ever and in the same breath say he can't win it all unless he has a team of all stars behind him.  Well that is true for anyone.  You can build a team of all stars behind Mehmet Okur and win a championship.  The sad thing is I don't think anyone wants to play with lebron knowing that if they win a championship lebron will get all the credit even though he couldn't win on his own.


LeBron needs to figure out the player he wants to be and he can win, it's just sad that 7 years later he hasn't and that is his fault and his lousy coaches fault for not helping mold him.  A Larry Brown or Phil jackson would have won a championship already with the same team over the last three years.

The truth is Lebron is not going anywhere.  This whole shit is media hype.  Lebron built a 22000 sfqt mansion, his family is there, his friends are there and I think he knows that leaving Cleveland will make him into a villain. He also knows that guys like Tim Duncan,Karl Malone, Stockton etc... that stayed in their small towns although are great players never got the hype they would have gotten playing in a big city.  It's amazing how Duncan has four rings and no one mentioned him here.

Despite being the biggest basketball star in history and being responsible for the explosion of the Nike brand - which enabled Tiger to supplant him as the world's most visible sports star - Jordan STILL has a chip on his shoulder, even though no one really disputes his position as the best ever. 

That's why we have to be careful about giving kids too much too soon without teaching them what it's like to want something so badly that they're willing to do whatever work necessary to get it.
