He is not in the same mental class as Jordan or Bird or Magic or Kobe. I literally feel like shit today. Its just worse b/c he is a free agent. Its like if you want to stay, just say it. But Lebron was never got to go on that recruiting merry go round in HS. I think he wants to feel wanted. Its makes it a sticky situation b/c I think that if Mike Brown is not fired, Lebron is not going to stay. I cringe at the thought of Calipari coaching in Cleveland. Mike Brown got out coached last year. But this team was built to beat Orlando. Shaq played good for an old man, but he is not a starting center.

You are right about Free.....he was fun to watch.  Poor Ehlo is only remembered for Jordan killing him, but he was a decent player.  Ron Harper was awesome in Clev before the knee injury.  He would have been a star.

Instead of putting the loss on his shoulders (like Jordan, Bird or Magic would have done), he wimped out. Couple that with the bullshit elbow garbage and you have Lebron James in a nutshell. Fuck em, he got owned.

One more thought I have on why Lebron doesn't seem to have the killer instinct that Jordan had: remember, Lebron was coronated as a king when he entered the league.  He was on the cover of SI when he was in high school.  Jordan was cut from his high school team as a sophomore.  I think Jordan always carried that "nobody believes in me attitude" his whole career (even when everyone did believe in him).  Jordan's HOF induction speech is evidence of that.

LeBron needs to focus on one thing if he wants to be great.  Lebron passes way too much.  He thinks he is a PG.  He also gets banged up too much going for rebounds.  Rebounders don't last long in the NBA. Lebron needs to be a scorer.  That's it.  Let the PG get the assists, let the other forwards and center get the rebounds and he needs to concentrate on scoring. Trying to be the all around player is not going to get him a championship when you need a team to win.  Lebron thinks he's a one man team.

He also needs to lay off the three point attempts.  I think until he reigns in his ego and realizes that he needs to stay close to the paint and go for points he will struggle.  He tries to be too much and that is not needed in today's NBA.

You cant judge a player/game by looking at the stat sheet, James failed miserably on key possesions, was passive when he should have attacked and turned the ball over way too much.You have 2 players who get 35 points, one scores 30 in the first half and 5 in the second and loses by 8 points, the 2nd scores 10 in the first half and 25 in the 2nd, scoring 20 of those in the fourth quarter and winning by 3 points, see?Its about WHEN you score and knowing when to take over, Jordan knew this, James doesnt.

Doug, Biggest diff between Kobe and Lebron is Kobe wants to beat you and the team, Lebron just wants to beat you and possibly win. Kobe has that "stick a knife in your back and twist it" just like Jordan did, Lebron does not, and probably will not. He is a false King, a "King" image propped up by Nike marketing. You could build a team around him, but ultimately he is no real leader, like Jordan or Kobe is or to a lesser degree Jason Williams from Duke. Jordan rallied the troops, inspired them, and chastised them.
 Lebron may or may not win a ring in the future, if I was a betting man, I'd say he will not. And I'd say he will go down as a bitter man, a la Shaq, whether he wins one or not, you can already see it in his actions, facial expressions. Some people know how to lead, and to command respect, it's innate, others must learn, and some never do.
He could have the best team around him, and he could be the weak link.

On another note, the biggest disappointment of a NBA star in the last 10 yrs to me was AI---loads of talent, passion, but too much "thug" in him to really grind it out---he has (or had) the hunger  in him, but never the discipline. I always wondered what would happened if Mary J Blige had kids with him and made him settle down.

Point in question was the finals against the Spurs. Game is real close, seconds on the clock, LeBron bangs it to the net and instead of finishing passes at the last second for a missed shot and loses the game.  Why the fuck did he pass?  He has to get over that shit.  He needed to take it hard and slam that in.  That game changed the whole finals and the Cavs got smoked the rest of the series.

AI had loads of heart, and yes he did carry the team. But the not showing up for practice or showing up late, and off the court issues, speaks volumes. When you are running a ragged ship it sets the tone for the rest of the team. You act like you don't care in practice, but then you want the team to put out? They will not, because AI was inconsistent, and don't blame the coach, it's AI. He always had issues even at G-town, he was and is a magnet for trouble and issues...

Here is an example, he shows up down here in the DC area for a "street gambling game" (take a guess), in tow is MJB (Mary J Blige), WTF are you doing in the streets "gamin" and with MJB, I mean, WTF. he could have been busted and jeopardized her career as well. Yet he his not a thinker, and it showed in those damn wild ass shots he would throw up. For a 5'10 dude, he put his body thru abuse, but had he been smarter and learned to play the game to win instead of playing street ball, he would be up there with the likes of Jordan, Bird, Ewing, Kobe, etc.

Harper was fucking Gordon Gund's daughter. That's why he got traded!!!  LOVED Ron Harper though. I was glad to see him get a ring with the Bulls.

Lisen, Lebron is a GREAT player, can be one of the best ever, BUT, he has to learn to be clutch. Its one thing to drop 40 on the Clippers and another to beat the Celtics. If I was in charge, i'd trade Mo for Tony Parker, try and get either Amare or Dirk (if they opt out) Resign Z to a mid level exception deal and see if you can get another shooter for JJ Hickson.

i was going to make the garnet comparsion but someone covered that.  lebron wins a ring at some pt because he is the 2nd largest nike basketball brand.  if the league has to do the jordan rules in a series it will happen by 32. 

he is a fixture in cleveland, isnt dynamic enough for new york. 

he didnt build the king brand like jordan did air.  it was given to him.

anyway...i'll be glad when he retires, dont even watch cleveland games, will pass on ny games if he ends up there.
