Sources Tap Nelson vs. Dos Santos
« on: May 16, 2010, 12:48:56 AM »
About a week ago, MMASucka learned that UFC Heavyweight, Roy “Big Country” Nelson (15-4), would be looking for a new opponent after French Kickboxer, Cheick Kongo, dropped out due to injury.

The TUF 10 winner played with the idea of facing Frank Mir, but now sources are surfacing of a possible bout with Black House prospect, Junior Dos Santos (11-1).

So far, he has knocked out Brendan Schaub and Stephan Struve in his young UFC tenure.

The heavy-hitting Brazilian is undefeated in the octagon since he first rattled a convincing TKO over veteran Fabricio Werdum at UFC 90.

Big Country himself is no push-over. He is a black belt in BJJ, but more than half of his wins have come by way of KO or TKO Strikes.

Between the two men, they have a total of four Knockout of the Night honors.

This fight be a stand-up affair, but don’t be surprised if the shorter, albeit heavier, Nelson decides to test Dos Santos’ ground game.

If reports hold true and both fighters sign their bout agreements the HW tilt will take place on the UFC 117 card in Oakland, CA.

The August 7th event is already slated to be headlined by a Middleweight title match between champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.

Nelson will finally put JDS on the mat and his belly will keep him there.  Nelson by TKO by Gnp or decision.  JDS hasn't fought a wrestler yet, let alone one as good as Nelson(who is also a BJJ blackbelt).
Predictions
 40/61

This is a really good matchup,  I'd rather see this fight than watch GSP and Kos hump each other's legs for 5 rounds.
