What do women think when they're told "Put yourself out there"?

Was talking to DGF about this last night and our opinions were pretty different, LOL!

Basically her sister is (i'll be nice) difficult and despite being very hot can't find anyone to date.

GF thinks that means put yourself on some dating sites and see if there are any bites. As if a bigger selection will solve the issue. It's easier to imply dateless people "just haven't found Mr/Ms right" than admit they just haven't been the right person. By right I specifically mean consistently relating to oneself in a good way and being approachable.

"put yourself out there" well might work...

a larger population sampling might mean she could get a bite  where the guy is willing to put up with more shit...

on the flip side...she might have to aim lower to find such a guy

Yeah, I think put yourself out there means let a larger population know you are available.

ONLY if you aren't aware that you might....

if you are, you r liable to catch yer mistake you r about to make and correct you mistake for gender....ie..make the observation gender neutral to the best of your abilities

Few things are gender neutral.

More my amusement at how differently people can interpret the same advice than a mistake. Her sister would never ask me for advice because I tend to be direct. Expanding the search area or lowering standards are both easier than working on yourself.

i said...she might have to aim lower....and in your first post , you didn't exactly seem to have a high opinion of her so i didn't go the "she should work on herself" route...cause again, inferring from your opinion of her..she is probably incapable of changing herself

She's very nice, just one of those chicks most decent guys would run out of patience with long before figuring it out. :)

well none of the characteristics you mentioned are terminal to say the least...she's prolly just very shy...

she needs a dose of self esteem and she'd be fine....maybe going out on a buncha dates (without sleeping with anyone) would bring her out!

I have this hot blonde female friend who always is dating Mr. Wrong on the pretext of getting married. She is 6 yrs younger than me, and she is intelligent, nice , but too eager to get married. She met some guy on Eharmony, after breaking up with her current boyfriend of almost a yr (she was 5 yrs older than the ex). She seems too needy, too eager.
She looks like Chloe Sullivan from Smallville. She put herself out there, but hasn't focused on the fact that she is a very needy woman, who is trying to match  her older sister, who just got married.
