Igor was good for his time. He wasn't great by any means losing to guys like Mario Sperry, Tra Telligman, Heath Herring, Mark Coleman ( a bigger wrestler with no skills outside of wrestling), Mirko Filipovic ( a better kickboxer then him), Alistair Overeem ( a better kickboxer then him). Kerr had no skills outside of wrestling. No submissions, no kicks, no punches, questionable movement. His shoot was amazing though. All Igor did was tire him out ( the guy was a massive juice pig) and take him apart. It's not too hard to take an artificially big steriod freak like Kerr (he walks natural at 210 lbs whereas brock walks natural at 260 lbs) and gas him. Kerr's career didn't get far for a reason. Once he fought half decent (average) competition he lost 11 times. That was almost 10 years ago. The guys today are much better. Igor would better too if he was training today, and fighting in the 185 pound class where he belonged.

Brock would pound him to death though. Way to small and not good off his back. I think Matt C. mixed up Igor with Fedor.

wow. one of the first smart post's ive seen in a mma thread here on gb!

Swede wanted the penis tattoo just like Brock, but after he learned it would reach to the top of his forehead he called it off.

How's your training going stud?

Still teaching the little white ones the way to rid AZ of illegals?

I'm still training but I'm not in AZ anymore.  Back in the midwest now, at least temporarily.

Are you retarded or just slow? Kerr was a multiple ADCC champion, subbed Barnett, beat sperry. And Kerr only lost 3 times in his prime. the rest of his losses occured when he "came back" and was a fat 230 lbs.

Igor fought and beat the best guys at the time, you cant compare him to guys today. He was a 5'8 striker and should have been fighting at 185 like you said but fought at HW.

Calm down, Gloria! The sport has evolved. Igor would not beat 'wrestlers' like Brock, Cane and Shane, just like Gracie Jujitsu does not rule the world anymore.

Igor was a good fighter though, but way to one dimensional

What prime? He came up in 1997 when the fighters he beat were hopeless on the ground (legends like Paul Varelans, Moti Horenstein, Greg Stott, Dwayne Cason). He fought 3 chumps in 1998 ending off with Hugo Duarte, the guy Tank Abbott destroyed in about 40 seconds. Garbage fighters with no takedown defence and ground game off their backs. By 1999 he was exposed by Igor V. as a one dimension wrestler and pretty much got destroyed by every decent fighter afterwards. What prime? lol. Sure he did ok controlling guys on the mat at ADCC (hint, they don't hit back there). How many brillant subs did he do in MMA? The guys is/was a garbage MMA fighter. Note: M-M-A. His skillset besides the wrestling was garbage.

His prime when he was ranked number 1. regardless of whether his opponents were cans or not. Kerr was a UFC champion and was destroying everyone they put in front of him. I'm not saying Kerr was a great fighter overall, just simply pointing out that he wasnt 1 dimensonal. Had almost half his MMA wins via Submission. Kimura was one of his favorites. I know you don't know much about MMA or sub grappling but believe it or not to enter ADCC and win you must have vast knowledge or submission and submission defence. Jeff Monson has very few wins via sub but is a BJJ black belt. I guess he is one dimensonal too right?
You are like the posters on Sherdog who forget that sprawls are also a wrestling move too, and to be well rounded you have to be aware of offensive and defensive measures.

I cant believe I'm wasting my time arguing MMA stuff with a guy who think you can win ADCC (the superbowl of submission grappling) and be a submission novice "because Kerr didnt have any brilliant subs in MMA". Right only 7 of his 15 wins came from submissions.

Really?  Igor Vovchanchyn,  who should be fighting at 185 would get destroyed by the likes of Carwin and Brock who outweigh him by 80 lbs and fight 5 years after his retirement? Who would have thought that? And the sport has evolved? Are you serious? Really? Thanks for pointing that out to all of us! I was clearly arguing to the contrary ::)

Igor was badass in his prime. Its unfair to compare him to todays fighters. All that matters is what his opponents were ranked when they fought and he knocked off some heavy hitters including Kerr ( who was ranked #1 at the time and had an aura of invincibilty about him, whether he deserved it or not), Sakuraba, Goodridge x 2 (who was a top 5 HW at the time) and Yuki Kondo a former king of pancrase. All the while at only 5'8 and fighting 1-2 divisions above where he should have been.

I'm really not sure why someone would look at Kerr so poorly.  Even if he was just a "one dimensional wrestler", what is Brock exactly?  It's not like he was demonstrating great MMA skill in his wins, but he was demonstrating great wrestling skill.
