WORKING MAN FOREARMS
« on: May 20, 2010, 12:28:17 PM »
the secret to building gigantic ropey forearms isnt some kind of gym movement....its blue collar work!!!!!!!

for example the guy who has been working on our air conditioner. he goes about 5-7ish, pot bellied with a full beard and chuck norris type look. no attempt to stay in shape or 'be muscular'. except this man also had fucking Dorian Yates forarms!!!! i mean they literally look like dorian yates forearms, thick and full of seperation. then today these 2 mexican dudes came to deliver a mattress...one of them was about 5-6, somewhat fat but thick as a brick...this man hoisted the thing up tons of stairs by himself in the blink of an eye. his forearms were probably 18 inches.. also ive yet to see any auto mechanic that didnt have solid forearms.

so the secret to gigantic strong forearms and hands is to spend your day doing blue collar work, then go home and drink some beers and eat whatever you want.

this goes to having calves... those muscles are stupid to train in the gym... you're right...

actually this goes to any muscle group.... if you "HAVE TO" use your whole body and lift heavy ass fucking shit every day... and you literally "have to do it" because it has to be done, it's your work, people would be bigger and more muscular...

it's differend in the gym... if you would have to lift 500lbs constantly at work for 8 hours you won't overtrain, ur body will adapt because it has to  do it...

yeah, having thick and veiny forearms is the primary goal in some people's lives??
At least build a body to match....

nah, i get your point. I have seen some pretty lean and ripped "home movers" who are A LOT stronger than they look.

you understand that mechanic do high rep (turning twisting) forearm work for an entire day, so its not "just blue color work" its high ass reps thats doing it =)

So you could say high rep for hours and hours is teh way to go.

they're mostly genetic just like calves, either you have them or you fail.

I've seen mechanics with huge powerful looking forearms many times. It always amazed me. My old man had solid veiny forearms from being a contractor all his life. Was and still is a good armwrestler too, with a monster grip I might add.

would it be wierd if on arms day i brought a tool set to the gym and finished off with 1000 reps of a wrench tightening then loosening a bolt on a screw hahahaha

My uncle has stooopid crazy popeye forearms. So good, that I few months back oli asked him what does he do for them. He said, nothing really. He said used to lift weights 30 yrs ago, but stopped. He is always doing mechanical work of some sort. And for a black guy to have such huge forearms, without working them is rare. Same for my dad. He is 5'11, and has high calves, much like Flex Wheeler's, but they are pretty damn big, 19"s, but he never trained them. He grew up on a farm, and he used tell me about lifting 100 pound sacks. When he was younger, he had what I call "dad arms", big round arms, with big forearms.

calves get bigger as you get older because the blood is not pumping as strong and collect in the lower legs.

GENETICS

Truth.

There's also a concept know as genetic selection. If you are built like a Woody Allen or Leonardo Dicrapio you tend to not go into manual labor. Trying to move a piano, dig ditches, haul lumber, turn wrenches, pound nails is not something you consider when you are a tiny tit ecto.

Mentzer had ham hocks for forearms and never did a day of manual labor. Saying that manual labor in and of itself is going to build a strong and powerful physique is like saying playing basketball is going to make you taller.

I've seen working-man traps too.

Guy at a bread making company loads trucks all day. Picks up stacked boxes and hoists them up from the ground over his head all day long.
