Mercer was about the same weight with about 6 inches less height, he is also close to fifty and has been shot for about twenty years. Tim was fighting the best heavyweight in the sport a few fights back, he is slightly past prime at best.
Tim has been clocked a few times by lesser strikers, he circled right on to Ray's lead hand, that has nothing to do with his weight. What it has to do with is his lack of defence.

UFC has lots of rules, most of which favor wrestlers. It's a controled enviroment just like all combat sports.

You put a top striker against a top grappler in a street fight and neither knows who the other is and the grappler gets K.O very quickly. Striking is for men, grappling is effective, but it's not pleasing to watch and is basically saying, i'm scared to get hit. Judo is a great grappling based sport that doesn't fit in to that sentiment.

Funny thing is Rampage said the exact same thing in an interview recently.

That doesn't detract from the fact that merely looking to groundfight, which is a hallmark of BJJ, is in most peoples opinion for people that don't really like fighting.

You are kidding right? Powerlifters often break legs and arms... you know shit about PL. I probably couldn't beat you in a ring, but if you lay your ass in a bench press with a bench shirt and I put you the 220kg that I can do, in your hands (you wouldn't need to do nothing just raise your arms and hold the bar, pretty easy hum?), the weight would crush you... you would break your shoulder blades or have your chest crushed by the weight. And that my brazilian friend is a thing that you don't have the balls to do.

Deaths in boxing high hundreds, deaths in mma about 2 or so. No top level boxer or Muay thai fighter has ever been involved in mma and nor would they, the pay is about a 100 times better in boxing and the thai guys are culturally affiliated with Muay thai. Ufc's rules heavily favor wrestlers unlike say pride's rules, so i would say wrestling is the most effective. Maybe in the future we will see some decent strikers in mma, i hope not as that would mean boxing isn't doing well, but who knows.

If Judo doesnt apply you have to add Fresstyle and Greco in with Judo. There are a plethor of throws in both these wrestling styles similair to those found in Judo. IMO in a street fight the best disiplines would be a solid boxing and wrestling background. Wrestling to prevent being taken down (which is the last place you want to be against multiple attackers) and to throw and trip guys (the ground in the street is hard and often a single trip or throw will take a guy out completly) and boxing is the best striking art IMO so keeping it standing with wrestling and letting the hands fly with boxing is a great combo in the street. Muay Thai would be a close second for striking IMO but knees aqnd kicks make you vulnerable to being taken down and as I said the ground is the last place you wanna be in a street fight.
