Do you guys really need this medicine to cope with life?

Everyone should get their test levels checked before going that route. Low test contributes to depression and anxiety, something that happens more with aging.

Hard for me to answer. Maybe all the weak people would get killed within seconds and the world would be better.
Another possibility is that today's gay aura causes many minds to fry and become sick - maybe a tough living would/could heal them?
In my case it's always been some anxiety and aggression - the feeling of having to hold back has been driving me crazy ever since.

 I used to feel ike I needed antidepressents and I was kinda fucked up in the head.

 The real problem was just that make life was out of whack, and I didn't have any mental or emotion discipline or control. I was letting my mind go anyway it wanted without being conscious of it.

 Also I was poor, working shit jobs and living a shitty life in general. As soon as I started stacking up money and living with more financial security it gave me breathing room to relax.

 It's all about mental control, emotional control, and living the proper life.

Cosign, read the power of now by Eckhart Tolle, problem is most people are stuck in their minds thinking about the past and future and rehashing old emotions over and over, the second you focus on the NOW and realise its all you ever have you are able to observe your mind and the tricks it plays on you.Basically meditating but 24/7, try it if your sceptical.

no one in my immediate family is on anti depressants...

HOWEVER....my whole extended family living in pakistan is  

they can get them over the counter over there and  (at least in my family) kids get on them (for the most part) around end of high school and stay on thru life...

i know for a fact...all my uncles and aunties and grandma pop em like candy...hell they even take different kinds depending on whether its closer to bed time or if they just woke up

There's a difference between feeling stressed or sad and actual clinical depression. Docs tend to hand out 'scripts at the drop of a hat every time a patient walks in to their office complaining of the most minute ailment, leading to the overuse of antidepressants, and many other meds, by many people.

Clinical depression is not a sign of personal weakness, or a condition that can be willed away. Clinically depressed people cannot "pull themselves together" and get better. In fact, clinical depression often interferes with a person's ability or wish to get help. Clinical depression is a serious illness that lasts for weeks, months and sometimes years. It may even influence someone to contemplate or attempt suicide.

There is a HUGE difference between clinically depresses people and the rest of the population who report symptoms of sadness, etc. I think its important to differentiate between exogenous and endogenous factors of depression.

Sometimes, life is just too hard.  This is when I'll take some "pick me up" pills, or antidepressants.  It's just hard to cope with reality sometimes.
Especially, when you go to the gym and the other guys are bigger than you are.  This is when I take my "strong" pills, called steroids.  It makes going there tolerable.  I know I'm not the strongest guy or have the best genetics, but when I take these, it really gives me the sense of achieving something there, though I have not.

I was for 5 years I came off in October of last year.  I felt I was using them as a crutch instead of dealing with my problems.  The first couple months was rough after being on for so long.  I feel better than ever, I have feelings again and my creativity is back.
