Question for Bay
« on: May 25, 2010, 03:47:07 AM »
I'm an American in Europe, and I have a Spanish friend and a French friend, and I have to remind them repeatedly not to intrude upon my personal space (roughly a 3 foot radius). So my question is: Is this just a cultural difference amongst us, or are they gay, or am I gay, or are we all gay?

They're only gay if you want them to be.

It is cultural...the population density is much lower in the "States...so native born Yanks are brought up with a much bigger personal space circumference.

Living in a small space with two guys will be the root cause.

We're not roommates, these things happen when we hang out. For example, I go to my Spanish friends place to post some pics on this site via his pc, and he always breaks my 3 foot rule. No, he's not gay, he actually lives with his girlfriend, go figure.

 It is cultural.

In lots of places in Asia people will rub against you and stand shoulder to shoulder with you and it's just normal. People always stand inches away.

Why do you need personal space anyway? Get over it. i think it's weird how Americans get all freaked out when you get too close to them. What's the big deal?

It's cultural.
