Support for repeal of Health Care plan at all time high
« on: May 25, 2010, 10:58:18 AM »
According to Rasmussen, 63% of those polled want it repealed.

 http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/march_2010/health_care_law

Support for repeal of the new national health care plan has jumped to its highest level ever. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 63% of U.S. voters now favor repeal of the plan passed by congressional Democrats and signed into law by President Obama in March.

Prior to today, weekly polling had shown support for repeal ranging from 54% to 58%.

Currently, just 32% oppose repeal.

The new findings include 46% who Strongly Favor repeal of the health care bill and 25% who Strongly Oppose it.

While opposition to the bill has remained as consistent since its passage as it was beforehand, this marks the first time that support for repeal has climbed into the 60s. It will be interesting to see whether this marks a brief bounce or indicates a trend of growing opposition.

Thirty-three percent (33%) of voters now believe the health care plan will be good for the country, down six points from a week ago and the lowest level of confidence in the plan to date. Fifty-five percent (55%) say it will be bad for the nation. Only three percent (3%) think it will have no impact.

The Political Class continues to be a strong supporter of the plan, however. While 67% of Mainstream voters believe the plan will be bad for America, 77% of the Political Class disagree and think it be good for the country.

(Want a free daily e-mail update? If it's in the news, it's in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on May 22-23, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Sixty-three percent (63%) of all voters expect the health care plan to increase the federal deficit. Just 12% expect the bill to push the deficit down, while 13% say it will have no impact.

Fifty-five percent (55%) say the plan will make the quality of health care in the country worse. Twenty percent (20%) expect it to improve the quality of health care, and 18% think quality will stay about the same.

Fifty-five percent (55%) also expect the health care plan to drive up the cost of health care rather than achieve its stated goal of causing those costs to go down. Only 18% believe health care costs will indeed go down because of the plan’s passage. Another 16% expect costs to stay about the same.

Male voters remain more critical of the health care plan than female voters.

While sizable majorities of Republicans and voters not affiliated with either major party continue to favor repeal of the plan, most Democrats remain supportive.

Just wait a year from now, when premiums are twice what they are now, and you have to prove to the IRS that you have it.

What I did notice is that this thread seemed to disappear the first time I posted.

Anyway, I believe the libs will stay away from this thread, since it can't be spinned to suit their views.

Thats the worst thing about this.  They screamed like babies about the need for this and now what?

We are left with a huge stinking pill of dung that is going to drive up costs, raion care, cost taxpayers a crap load, all while the economy is still on the b rink of collapse.

Not going to happen.  As I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong), but even if Repubs pick up every seat in the next election, they still won't have enough votes.

Better to spend time trying to change bad parts of the bill through amendments.

FACT-CHECK: Sen. Cornyn – 56% of Americans support repeal of health care bill
May 25, 2010 16:35 |

The following is a fact-check of the May 23, 2010 episode of Meet the Press:

SEN. JOHN CORNYN (R-TX) | 56% of Americans want to repeal the healthcare bill. – LIKELY FALSE

SEN. CORNYN:  Sixty percent of the people–I think it’s 56 percent nationwide–believe the healthcare bill that my friend Mr. Menendez and my friend Mr. Sestak support, they want to repeal it because they realize we can’t afford because it raises premiums, raises taxes, and cuts Medicare in order to create a new entitlement program.

OK looking at Cornyn’s statement alone, it is constructed to be LIKELY FALSE. He does not say “a recent poll said” or any other qualifier of the number, just “56 percent nationwide.” Of course it’s virtually impossible that a statement like that, as an absolute, could be true. Putting that aside for a moment what Sen. Cornyn is referring to is a Rasmussen poll which came out last week indicating that 56% of the likely voters they surveyed favored repealing the recent health care bill. In fact another Rasmussen poll out this week puts that number at 63%. In addition, perhaps a minor point, but Rasmussen polled “likely voters” in these surveys, and again Sen. Cornyn did not say “likely voters” he said “Americans.”

Regardless, determining just how many Americans support repealing the health care bill is not as simple as looking at one poll or polls from one firm.  For instance, the national average of polls done by Pollster.com for the last two months indicate that opposition to health care reform is trending down, with 45.6% of the population opposing health care reform while 41% approve, and of the polls that track it, an average of 17.2% either don’t know or have no opinion. In addition a May 6-10 poll by NBC/WSJ indicated that of a surveyed group in which 38% thought the health care bill was a good idea and 44% thought it was a bad idea, only 42% said they would more likely to vote for a candidate who wanted to repeal the bill. (55% said they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who wanted to change the bill) An earlier Indiana University poll in mid-April found that 51% supported repealing the bill. And a May poll by (conservative polling firm) Resurgent Republic found that only 35% of respondents agreed with GOP efforts to “repeal and replace” the health care bill.

Now there is not a lot of polling regarding the specific question of favoring repeal of the health care bill, and Rasmussen has looked at it on a weekly basis, but that does not in any way mean that Rasmussen’s results can be taken alone to be an accurate representation of what the overall American population thinks. So not only is Sen. Cornyn’s statement LIKELY FALSE because of its wording, the statistic itself is LIKELY FALSE as well. Polls undoubtedly indicate that the health care bill is still opposed by majority of Americans, but a statement of fact cannot be made that 56% favor repealing it.

Special thanks to crowd-checker Andrew for assisting with this fact-check.

Incredible!!Yet when ABC does polls and has democrats polled 2-1 and put in tiny print at the bottom of the poll and the libs go out and trumpet that "Obama is at 50% approval".NOT ONE LIB gets on here and says "wait that poll was was Skewed".

ObamaCare is truly one of the most reckless pofs bills ever to have passed in our history.

The morons, dupes, shills, cult members, lackeys, hacks, leftists, etc paid ZERO attention to how reckless that pofs bill was SOLELY because it was their cult leader pushing it.

They dont care if we become like Greece, don't give a rats ass if we go broke, dont give a rats ass if we become a communist nation, so long as they perceive themselves to be getting something for nothing from someone else.

That's because liberals here have a MASSIVE case of European envy. Why they don't pack their bags and head to that shangri-la of leftist utopia is beyond me.

Case in point, we always hear them yak about how "Don't Ask; Don't Tell" should be repealed here, because other nations have homos openly serving in their ranks.

Of course, they forget that many of these countries also have MANDATORY military service; but that's another story for another time.

You would think that, if this socialist crap like universal health care has been done in other nations (with catastrophic results), Americans should be the LAST to want such mess here.
