in through the outdoor was a classic and tragic ending to what could have been zep in the 80's as a still great band, they were on top of there game after some tough late 70's times, all in good shape but bonzo,if u see videos from the last show at knebworth sweden bonzo is very heavy but still banging away ,the others looked rested and in good music form.cosa came out with some reissues and some decent late 70's throwaway songs.cool band.

Obviously, I'm a fan of Thin Lizzy; Phil's narrative vocal style and the twin lead guitar attack, but their body of work can't compare to Zeppelin's.

Look at it this way. If Lizzy and Zep went out on tour together in their prime, who would be the opening act?
I love Thin Lizzy, don't get me wrong, but I always have a laugh when I hear 'Jailbreak' and the opening two lines: 'Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak'   'Somewhere in this town.' If I was the sheriff of this town, I'd be positioning my men at the jail, not somewhere.  ;D

Perhaps they were going to breakout via the sewer pipe and come out a mile away from the jail ala Tim Robbins in "Shawshank Redemption." :)

He said hey there fella with ya hair colored yellow what ya trying to prove? Coz that's a my woman there and I'm a man who cares and this might be all for you." Van Zant... DUTCH POWER! Oh yeah ;>

Great, narrative, down-to-earth lyrics. When Southern rock was peakin' America was actually giving the Brits a run for their money.

The Outlaws were actually my favorite mainly because of the guitar playing of Billy Jones. No one had a tone like this guy. He's the one in the vest playing the black Gibson.

Yeah Hendrix did "trow" down. No denying that, but Duane Alman was hands down the best guitarist of that generation. Ask Clapton.

I think she might have meant she never really "listened" to floyd on shrooms/acid which is the way it was created to be heard....I read some books on floyd...They were mostly tripin but if they created something sober (which was rare)and then ate acid and it didn't sound right they trashed it...so essentially everything they made was intended to be listened to in an enlightened state...

that's bullshit and hearsay.  the only one who was really into drugs was syd barrett and they kicked him out relatively early on.

thats true, while floyd is "trippy"  and "progressive" and may have been doing a lot of psychedelics around the time of 'saucer full of secrets' and 'piper at the gates of dawn'

roger waters was known to take music composition VERY seriously, likewise gilmour.........by the time they hit 'dark side', 'the wall', 'wish you were here', 'animals'.........they were not known to be one of those bands that were fucked up all the time

they were trying to compose material that was a whole encompassing  sensory experience, as evinced by the album art, ultra-forward-thinking, stage shows, ect.........while drugs might be viewed by some as a facilitator for the enjoyment of floyd's music.......they certainly are not a prerequisite.......not for the band itself either

You're right, but, this type of reunion usually occurs when the band members need money. According to my friend, Waters lives in a huge castle and drives a Rolls. So, you might not want to hold your breath.

no, none of them need the money

and yes, when people are in need of money they have a way of putting the past behind them

thats why bands like GnR and abba will never reunite......i think abba turned down 1 billion dollars to do a reunion tour

No accounting for taste.  I've heard that too.  A billion dollars but they didn't need the money.  If it's true they should have just done the tour and donated it all to charity.  Would have been a far better legacy than whatever their music has done.
