He competed in every show for 3 years or so, then nothing this year. Kidney failure?

i think you just answered you own question , he did like EVERY show last year adm the year before

he probably is taking some time to recover, that is NOT good for you

he was pissy over some of his placings as well, kept threatening retirement

Agreed, which is why I found it odd that he wasn't in the lineup of any early shows to qualify for the Olympia. AFAIK he has no major sponsorships that could afford him to miss an entire year of competition (maybe some lucrative G4P w a sheik).

The other thought I had was organ problems due to contest diuretics/other supps.
