lat tear?
« on: May 29, 2010, 05:22:53 PM »
Two weeks ago I choked and coughed very hard and I heard a sound like cotton cloth tearing.  It didn't hurt much at first.  The next day it was decidedly sore just under my shoulder blade, and it is like the opposite of a rotator cuff injury, it hurts to reach down instead of up.  Right now the company doctor has me going to a physical therapist for massage, ultrasound diathermy, minor stretching exercises.  So far he has not performed an MRI,...is this a good course for a possible lat tear?

I was doing heavy low cable pulley rows and the area where my lat meets my armpit at the back ripped and it killed. It hurt for a week but there was no bruising. I'm sure it was a small tear but I got over it. I did the same thing doing stiff legged deads years ago when my arms were extended at the bottom.
